Skye pov.
Mac, Jack, and I all walked back into the war room, where Riley, Bozer, and Matty were residing, still dressed in our same entire.
"Here," I tossed the small bag of crystals onto the table and Matty just stared at it.
"What is this?" She asked.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the deal an entire shipment?" Riley questioned looking up from her laptop.
"Yeah, so where's Jogger?" Bozer finished it off. All of the things I did not want to answer but I had to.
"He's on a plane back to Portugal," Jack said for me.
"What!" Matty shouted wide eyed.
"He didn't have the shipment," Mac piped in.
"But he had that," Bozer gestured to the bag on the table, "y'all couldn't of busted him for that."
"Yes they could of Bozer," Matty said, "but this little bit would of gotten him locked up for a short period. We catch him with as much as Montana asked for, we could put him away for life."
"Which is why he has one more week it get it," Mac informed.
"And who made that decision?" Matty questioned with a stern look towards Mac.
"I did," I at last spoke up.
Matty turned to me quickly but I refused to look at her. Eventually her look softened and she sighed.
"You're all dismissed for the day," she said, "go get changed and go home."
I took no time at all to leave the room and make my way down the hall. Unfortunately, I could hear the all too familiar feet behind me.
"Skye," he called after me but I continued on.
"Skye," he reached me and grabbed my hand, forcing me to stop.
"Mac please," I huffed, "I just want to get out of these clothes and go home."
He looked at me for a second before saying, "Come here."
He pulled me to the side and into a small closet with cleaning supplies in it. He closed the door behind him and flipped the dim light on.
"Talk to me," he said making me want to melt into his arms. But I hadn't been able to do that lately and I couldn't allow it now, "What's wrong."
"Nothing," I said it in such a way that even I didn't believe it.
"Skye," he sighed shaking his head, "Out there, with Jogger, when Montana was telling him about her father... I hope that has nothing to do with your parents."
I couldn't look him in the eyes, because he could read me all to well. I didn't want to respond but the words just started pouring out of me.
"The way I treated them, even after they told me they'd changed, I didn't believe them...," I sniffled as a sob escaped my lips, "It might as well been me pulling the trigger."
"Hey," Mac stepped forward and wrapped his arms around me, "there is no way you could of known."
"I should of," I responded harshly.
"Listen baby," He pulled away and held my face in his hands, "I'm searching everywhere to find my dad, but even when I do, its going to take a lot for me to trust him again after leaving me like that."
I looked back at him with tears in my eyes.
"Point being," he continued, "what happened is not your fault. Okay?"
I nodded my head. It was going to take some time before I truly believed that but for now, for Mac, I would agree. He let go of me and I raised my hand to wipe the tears from my makeup smudged face.
"I'm gonna go get changed now," I said reaching for the door.
"Wait," Mac said taking my hand in his before it could get to the knob, "there's something I've been meaning to give you."
He released my hand and his own traveled to his pocket.
"I've been fiddling with this for a while," he told me, "and it's nothing perfect but-"
He at last pulled his hadn't out but kept it in a fist so that I couldn't see what he held within.
"Skye," when he said my name my eyes locked with his, "I love you so much. Loving you is the easiest and hardest thing I've ever done. What we have doesn't always make since but you never cease to make me happy. I have gotten to this point where I can no longer imagine my life without you in it."
He opened his hand yet I wasn't focused on object in his palm, but his words.
"I'm not asking for anything anytime soon," Mac said, "but maybe some time... if we ever find the chance to..." he stuttered for the right thing to say, "I'm just asking... well I guess I'm not really asking... Just uh-."
I finally looked down to see something that made me smile from ear to ear.
"We've made so many promises to one other," Mac chuckled and I looked back up at him, "I'm just asking for one more. And I know it's nothing special-."
He eyed the ring in his hand, "I've been messing with it for a while trying to get it just right and-."
"It's beautiful," I stopped him. He looked up at me and grinned.
"So," Mac took my left hand and began to push the ring onto my finger, "You promise?"
I nodded and placed a soft yet passionate kiss on his lips.
"I promise."
