Skye pov.

We all sat around the war room. Riley on the couch typing away on her keyboard with Bozer looking over her shoulder next to her. Jack was in the chair on the far side of the room from the door and I sat in the one directly across from him. Mac had been up and down on the arm of my chair, pacing and fiddling with paper clips. Just then our Boss entered the room with a determined face causing Riley to even stop her typing. She made her way to the front of the room and just looked at all of us. But then her gaze came to Mac. He was seated now, hunched over working on his paperclip creation. The woman's face softened. I wanted to wrap Mac up in my arms and take us both away from all of this. But my mind demanded answers.

"Does anyone care to tell me who this Jonah Walsh is?" I questioned looking around. I almost cringed back at the way my voice broke the silence but no one seemed bothered by it. Mac didn't even flinch. There wasn't a response at first. Everyone kind of just looked at one another. Then Jack looked at Mac with a fatherly look.

"Mac," he spoke softly to hopefully bring the boy back to our current world. His fingers stopped fiddling and slowly he dropped his hands in defeat.

"I've only officially met him twice," Mac carefully said raising his head. His voice quivered as if full of sorrow, "And I can only remember one of those times."

My eyebrows ruffled. What all happened here during my absence?

"He uh-," Mac's eyes drifted far away again to some memory I couldn't see, but then they focused on Jack, "He was my dad's ex partner, back when he use to do all of this."

I thought about that statement long and hard. I knew Mac had found his dad and their situation but I wasn't aware he use to do exactly what Mac does now.

"So what happened between them?" I pushed further. If this man had my son I wanted to know all about him.

"Walsh had a change of heart. Went off the grid for a while," Mac huffed thinking back on it, "me, Jack, and my dad found him right after...." he trailed off for a moment and then glanced over his shoulder at me for a brief second, "right after you left."

I sighed to myself knowing it would be awhile until everyone here got past that. Including me, ever since I got back, I was having a hard time forgiving myself for what I'd done.

"We found he was working on this drug called KX7," Mac began again with a deep breath, "it was originally designed to help soldiers in the field. To enhance their strength and reduce pain receptors."

"Am I the only one who thinks that doesn't sound like a completely awful idea," I shrugged looking around.

"It wasn't. The concept itself was great," Mac explained, "but there was a problem, anyone who took the drug would suffer a major heart attack within minutes."

"So that's not good," I replied with my eyebrows raised.

"Yeah," Mac nodded, "he and my dad created it but once my dad realized what it did to people he stopped. When Walsh turned he stole the formula. He actually tired getting me and my dad to finish it for him."

"And let me guess," I said leaning forward, "y'all didn't and now he's out to get y'all or something."

"Well we might of blown up his lab too," Mac shrugged looking back down at his paper clip.

"Okay," I nodded now in understanding, "but still, taking our son and making us thing he's dead... was that really necessary?"

"It wasn't necessary but he still did it," Matty now cut in, "so that means we are going to track him down until we find your boy."
