I stood there for sometime pondering on what to do. It was too dark outside to walk home without getting lost, no matter how well I knew the area. I guess the only other option was just staying here for the night until morning.

"Hey," a boy who almost looked too young to be hanging around this area this late at night said pulling in front of me in his truck, "You need a ride?"

I looked around not seeing anyone else who would be willing to offer such a thing and yet I wasn't entirely sure that I should agree to the gesture.

"Thanks but I'm fine," I responded with a casual grin.

"That you are," he smiled, "but don't worry, I'm only interested in giving you a ride."

I just looked at the smirky boy unsure. I might have seen him around once or twice but I'd never talked to him directly. He seemed like an okay guy from the times I had seen him and right now he was my only option home. So after my pondering I rolled my eyes and gave in.

"Alright," I walked around to the passenger side of his large truck and climbed in. How bad could this really be?

Mac pov.

I was walking out of the bar thinking to myself, something I do much too often. Skye really wanted a real relationship with me. And I admit I was developing strong feeling for her as well, stronger feelings than I originally anticipated having for the girl.

I couldn't help but allow a wide grin to spread across myself. Things might actually work out with her.

But then my whole world came crashing down around me. How could I of been so stupid? I usually have a better awareness of the things happening around me but with my mind being so preoccupied I didn't even see them coming. I only felt a sudden pain in the back of my skull before the world went even darker than it already was and everything was completely black.

"Skye?" the word barely left my lips as I whispered it trying to remember everything and the last thing I could was her, "Skye..."

Thats when it all came back to me and I felt the ropes binding my arms and legs to the chair I was in.

"Skye!" my head shot straight up and I immediately saw the familiar face in front of me.

"Oh don't worry about her," he spoke with his arms crossed taking a step closer to me, "she's fine, for now."

I jerked at the restraints as much as I could trying to get them to loosen even the slightest bit so that I could free myself.

"If you hurt her I swear I'll-" his hand balled into a fist and slammed right into my jaw before I could finish my statement.

I took a moment, keeping my head down, to breathe and spit the blood now in my mouth to the floor.

"What do you want Dan?"

Yep, who would of thought that a crazy ex and drunk could be capable of kidnapping. Well, I did I guess, but I didn't expect it to be me. If anything I thought I would end up putting the psycho in handcuffs for coming after Skye again.

"Oh thats simple, Mac is it?" I looked up at him barely raising my head, "just leave Skye alone."

"What-?" Once again his fist connected with my face and more blood surfaced in my mouth.

"It wasn't a request," he said too calmly at me, leaning down to be eye level with me, "you stay away from her or else."

Dan stood and turned to exit the room, that is when my mouth kicked in and I started talking. I knew that as long as he was in here the room would be unlocked so if I could manage my way out of these ropes I would have an easier time getting out with him still in the room.

"Or else what?" I asked, "she doesn't belong to you, she's free to choose anyone she wants. You know what I think...?"

Dan stopped dead in his tracks and turned around to me. That's when I saw it. Strapped to his right hip was a hunting knife, and with my Swiss army knife well out of reach from my tied down hands, that was my only hope at cutting myself free. So unfortunately I was going to have to piss this man off enough to get him to pull it out.

"Whats that?" He came back at me and just like I hoped his hand went to the knife and gripped it, prepared to pull it out. I gulped just praying that this would work and also knowing this was probably going to hurt... a lot.

Skye pov.

"I'm Jay," he said once we were on the road.

"Skye," I introduced myself back. I was hoping that the only words we would have to speak to each other would be those of how to get to my house. However, I was now noticing that that was not going to be the case.

"Well that's a pretty name," he looked over at me and I just tried to keep my attention focused out the window.

"Take the next right," I pointed up ahead ignoring his statement.

"Is it short for something?" he asked.

"Huh?" Maybe if I just continued to act like I didn't hear him he would shut up.

"Skye," he pressed on, "is it short for something? Like Skylar or-?"

"No," I cut him off with a huff, "its just Skye."

I could see him from the corner of my eye nodding his head, "Cool, cool. Yeah see most people think Jay is short for something like Jayden but its not. Its just Jay."

"Thats me there on right," I quickly said grabbing my bag from the floorboard while he turned his blinker on and pulled down my driveway. He put the truck in park and I was immediately opening the door.

"So thats it then?" he said stopping me from climbing out of his vehicle just yet. I paused and turned around to look at the boy with a small grin.

"Thank you for the ride." That was the only thanks he was getting and I hoped he knew that.

"Well you are very welcome ma'am," he tipped his ball cap at me with his own genuine smile.

"Ma'am?" I nearly snorted, "How old do you think I am?"

He shrugged his shoulders with a chuckle. I just rolled my eyes at his immaturity and carefully slid out of the truck.

"Goodnight Skye," I stopped and looked at him leaning one arm on the steering wheel with a smirk.

"Goodnight," I responded and then the door was closed and I saw nothing else of the boy.
