Mac pov.

Jack forced me to come home after another ten hours of running through everything possible in order to find Skye. Nothing came up and I was starting to lose hope entirely. The fire department had just finished going through the remaining rubble at Dan's place. They discovered a can of Pam spray, a lighter, and a broken bottle of liquor which they suspected started the fire. However, no sign of Skye.

We did discover that the house in which they were residing in belonged to an older man who the police found in the forest with a gun shot wound to the head a few miles away from the house. That only infuriated me more. This man had done nothing and Dan killed him only for his house. That made me think of all the possible things he could of done to Skye.

I stood in the shower letting the water hit me and sting against my slowly closing wounds. All of my thoughts soon became to much for me and I pushed my dripping hair out of my face in frustration.

I turned the shower off roughly and dried myself. Walking to my room I put clothes on and plopped down onto my bed basically exhausted from nothing but my own mind. The door slowly creeped open and I glanced up to see Jack's face peeping through.

"I could of been naked," I said as Jack proceeded to come fully into the room.

"Naw," Jack waved, "I stood outside that door long enough to know you'd put your clothes on."

I just stared at him for a long moment before breathing heavily, "That makes me feel so much better."

The older man laughed at me and then became very serious. I was not in a laughing mood and I felt like I never would be again. It wasn't because of how much I cared for Skye or liked her or whatnot. She did this, traded herself, for me. This was all my-

"Don't do this Mac," Jack pulled me from my thoughts like he normally does.

"Do what?" I questioned. We both knew what he meant but I still asked.

"I had to have this same conversation with Skye when Dan took you," Jack said looking at me and my eyebrows ruffled as my gaze traveled over to him, "She blamed herself, oh my gosh, that girl was so upset with herself."

"Why?"

Jack sighed and then leaned over putting his elbows on his knees.

"Don't guess you wonder why it took us so long to find you?" Jack asked and I just shrugged because honestly I hadn't thought about it, "Three days went by before we even knew you were kidnapped."

Once again my eyebrows scrunched together, "What?"

"With the history Princess has had with men, she thought you'd just walked out on her, that her telling you she wanted to move out here scared you off," Jack explained, "it wasn't until I showed up at her house because she wasn't answering any of my phone calls that we both realized what had happened."
