Skye pov.
I walked back into my room after a long workout, feeling the soreness in my shoulder. It had been only a month since it had happened and according to Brody I was pushing myself too hard, too fast. He thought I was getting way too worked up for our mission to come. Little did he know, but I wasn't pushing myself for this organization's sake. I was ensuring that I'd be at the peak of my performance level when I finally found Murdoc. And nothing was going to stop me from finally putting him away, for good this time.
I emerged from the shower to see my laptop flashing red. I nearly dropped my towel in an effort to get over to it as quickly as possible. This was it. I'd set my computer up to run a constant facial recognition looking for Murdoc all over the world. This alert told me that I'd done it, I found him.
With a few key strokes I was able to pull up the captured picture and his location. To my surprise, it was actually him. And he was here, in the U.S. still. He was in.... Hawaii.
"Miller," my door burst open to reveal the Agent I'd done everything to avoid lately. His eyes widened when he saw my still damp skin covered by only a towel wrapped around me.
"Yes?" I questioned, annoyed, raising my eyebrows at him. I hadn't been able to look at him the same since I'd spoken to Matty. I couldn't believe she was trying to take my mind off Mac with this...
"I um- uh-," he stuttered causing me to roll my eyes.
"Brody!" I yelled making him blink several times, "what is it?"
"Mission," was all he said. Great. I couldn't do this now. I was going to have to get out of it some how. Or I could just bail. Of course that wouldn't look good on me but at this point I didn't care.
"I can't go," I said going over to my dresser to get some clothes.
"What?" He must of noticed my tension because he quickly entered the room and grabbed my arm turning me around, "Miller."
I turned to face him just about the time that my towel slipped from my grasp and hit the ground. I was slightly embarrassed but I'd learned that if you don't act like you are, the other person is less likely to find it awkward. But that didn't work.
"I uh-," Brody began again, "Sorry."
"Forget it," I sighed reaching for my bra instead of my towel. I turned my back to him and got my pants up before he said anything to me again.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Why wouldn't I be?" I turned back around to him still without my shirt. His eyes traveled down and I nearly rolled my own eyes at what I thought he was looking at. He took a few steps closer to me and soon his fingers were tracing the scar on my abdomen. The one I had gotten while on the undercover op to save my parents.
"What happened here?" His voice was so soft and that accent had me nearly melting into him. I stayed there absorbing his body heat so close to me for a moment before reality slapped me in the face. I jerked away and pulled my shirt on.
"We all have our stories before we got here, Brody," I said nonchalantly, "it's just one of those things."
"Yeah," he huffed in annoyance, "just one of those things you don't want to talk to me about. You know I wish you'd open up to me. It would really make this whole partnership thing easier."
"If you can't work with me that's your problem," I chuckled to myself shoving more clothes into a go bag, "not mine."
"Miller," he sighed taking my arm again and pulling me away from my task and towards him. Although I allowed my body to follow his lead, I didn't let my eyes look up.
