Chapter Ten: Seamless and Endless Rage
“Filia… what do you want? Give me one reason why I shouldn’t rip your head off and stick it on a pole.” Alexander’s voice was violently quaking with a sudden rage. I have no words as to why he was so angry, but there was obviously history between them that wasn’t exactly good.
She chuckles behind her voice filter. “Are you still upset about what happened to Sunneroria? My dear, you seem have some issues..” She is interrupted by Alexander grasping her throat and violently trying to strangle her. He then tosses her into a tree.
“SHUT UP!!” Alexander screams in a bloody rage. “Because of what you did, I lost everything! I’M GOING TO KILL YOU!!” He draws his sword and charges her. She strikes back, and manages to disarm him, and then, they begin to exchange blows. While her men are just standing there, Ore and I take action and begin attempting to take them out. While we’re knocking out the soldiers, Alexander has taken things to a terrifying level. I notice that Filia has a dagger wound on her shoulder, and then I realized that Alexander was intending to kill her.
“Alexander! NO! That’s not necessary! Please! Just stop! It’s not worth it!!” I start screaming at him. I find myself being kicked in the face, and I sail backwards at an alarming rate. I then crash into a boulder, and it really hurt.
“SHUT UP!” He yells, and then he pins a weakened Filia with daggers against a tree. He steps close to her, and growls, “This is for her.” I close my eyes, as he delivers the last blow. I wince. I don’t dare look, and my body trembles with fear. “Let’s go.” He says in a low undertone. I shake violently and then yell,
“Why?! Why did you do that? What’s your problem!? And who is ‘her’ that you mentioned? Huh? Well? Why did you do that, you stupid dragonling!?!” I practically spit in rage. He walks straight up to me and lowers to my level.
“Because she was the same as your Grandfather. She killed and massacred my people at Sunneroria. People, who kill others for petty things such as glory, money, or the sheer FUN of it, deserve to die. As for the ‘her’ I mentioned, I only promised someone that I would avenge her and everyone who died there. It was my duty to protect everyone, and I failed. That’s all you need to know, pixie.” He spat this last word out at me. I had a hard time buying what he said about the her he mentioned.
I still think he’s hiding something from me. Why would he go this far just for a simple promise like that? I don’t think that’s like him. I suspect that who ever this woman was, he was attached to her personally. I think, like me, he’s on a personal vendetta. He wants to avenge her death in anyway possible. Could he blame me for her death? After all, he probably does hate me and my family for what happened during the war. I still can’t accept that he’s right about Grandpa… Maybe if I- BOOM. A loud gunshot rings out in the air, and I gasp, as a lazer gun from a conscious soldier hits Alexander right in the heart. He then fires repeatedly, a total of five times. That was the last shot he got. I literally hit him so hard he immediately went into a coma. I then rush to Alexander, who was on the ground.
“Alexander! ALEXANDER! Are you alright?!?” I scream in a panic.
“Get.. Off. Me.” Alexander growls. He forces himself upright, and swats me away. “Let’s just move.” I just sigh, but for hours afterwards, I kept a close eye on him. We neared a huge forest, when Alexander stops for a moment, and just stands there. I was going to ask him if he was alright, when he suddenly falls over, coughing up blood. I immediately bolt to him, and undo his shirt. I gasp when I see the burns and the bleeding.
“Oh no. Ore!! Get here quick! He’s wounded! We need to get him help! But where? We need to find a shelter of some sort…” Alexander suddenly lifts his arm, and manages to point at the woods.
“There’s…*cough* a cabin about twenty miles from here… hurry… help…will be there…” He passes out.
I give Ore a look. “Ore, help me with him. He’s heavy. You’re going to have to help hold him.”
“Fine! I’m coming!” He helps lift Alexander off the ground, and then we all rush towards the woods, hoping, just hoping, we would make it before it would be too late.
