Chapter 65: Hymn Of The Hurricane

I start running to catch up; Alexander had gained a considerable distance ahead of me. Dang it, why couldn’t he just WAIT for once? I finally spy him standing in front of Tom, and they looked really mad, not at all pleased to see each other, well, at least Alexander wasn’t. For some reason, Tom was being… friendly. As I get closer, I hear their conversation.

“Alexander, PLEASE, think of your people! They need someone to rule, and who better to rule then you?! You’re a war hero, you served as Alexandi’s right hand for years, the people ADORE you Alexander, they’d be more likely to follow orders from you then Racla! She has abandoned them, refusing to take responsibility and take the throne, as she should have! I’m offering you a chance to have the throne, and finally have peace in our lands! Stop thinking for yourself and…”

Alexander violently cuts him off.

“You DARE degrade Racla’s name, your own cousin? Have you forgotten that your own people need a king as well? YOU HYPOCRITE!!!” Alexander backhands Tom, sending him smashing into a building. Alexander marches right up to him, and grabs him by the collar.

“I have no business on the throne, I have no interest in filling that seat when it is rightfully Racla’s! I’m tired of all of this! You have only made things worse, Tom!!! You have sparked a civil war! Your father would EXILE you for this!!! You are worse than SCUM!!!” Alexander roars, his body glowing with a brilliant sapphire aura.

Tom looks terrified.

“NO! Not here Alexander! Don’t use that power! Remember what happened last time!!!”

Alexander shoves him to the ground, his body glowing even brighter.

“Exactly, which is why THIS time, you’ll see what my power is like… controlled.” He looks at me, and gives me a deadly smirk.

“Prepare to see the TRUE power of the Guardians, of the Hurricane Guardian himself!!!” With this, Alexander leaps into the sky, beyond the range of the airships swarming the sky.

“DAMN IT ALEXANDER! STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!!!” Tom roars, as Alexander fades from sight.

I scowl at him. “What’s with you? And what’s with Alexander?”

Tom looks like he’s going to tear his hair out, which would be funny, to no end. He is about to answer when a thundering voice shouts from the heavens,

Guardias Cerberus! Come and sing from the heavens, divine dragon of the Hurricane!!!”

Suddenly, the sky darkens with thick rain clouds, which begin to swirl around the city, growing into an eerie hurricane like form.

“What’s going on?!” I growl, growing very nervous.

“Guardias Cerberus, Alexander’s ultimate power and form as a Guardian. When he activates it, he takes the appearance of the original Hurricane Dragon. The last time he entered that form…”

The realization hits me. “You mean…”

He nods fearfully, mortal fear in his eyes.

“He created The Year of Storms. This is the exact same power he unleashed last time, though last time he had no control…” His voice cuts off as he sees a massive platinum colored dragon descend from the skies, with blue runes etches into its body. It has two hind legs, and two massive metallic feathered wings that stir up huge gusts of winds, even from the great distance it is flying. It eyes Tom coldly, and lets out a mighty roar, causing lightning to crash all around us.

The storm grows worse, beginning to rotate violently. Lighting flickers constantly, with low rumbles of thunder pealing ominously.

I have no intention of you causing any more trouble, Tom. As long as it is within my power, I’m going to end your little war, right here, right now.”

With that, he opens his great maw, and a huge orb of energy begins to charge and grow bigger, until it is nearly as large as his great giant head. With a mighty roar, he unleashes a mighty beam of power at Tom’s fleet, the power of lightning, wind, water, and ice obviate all in its path, tearing huge holes in the clouds. With a terrible peal of lightning and thunder whiting out the entire sky, Tom’s entire fleet is utterly destroyed. Who seemed to think it wise to retreat before he got himself killed.

Alexander roars triumphantly as he gazes over the destruction of Tom’s fleet, and then eyes me as I give him a stern look.

“Get your scaly butt down here, and get rid of the crappy weather!” I yell with all my might at him. Even as an almighty dragon, I SWEAR that he’s rolling his eyes at me, and descends, turning back into his real form as he lands. I punch him in the stomach, very much angered at his actions.

“That was NOT necessary, you could’ve destroyed the whole city you idiot!!!”

He closes his eyes for a moment, then sighs, as my parents and my friends come running. My dad looks at Alexander with some disapproval.

“You have some explaining to do.” He states flatly. Alexander looks at me briefly, before turning to the sunset before us.

“…I’m tired of all of this. All the fighting and hatred… it has to stop. It only serves Chaos. Danica… Elizabeth… I need your help. We need to deal with two critical matters. I realize that I haven’t exactly done much good for you, but you need to trust me on this. I need you, Elizabeth, to send all of your available navy and air force on a strike against Tom’s forces, as well as the Insurrection forces. Danica… I need you to come with me. It’s time we put a stop to Ramok… once and for all. We can’t wait for him to break free. We must end this, as soon as possible. … I… I ask for your forgiveness, and your aid. I can’t do all of this alone. When me and Danica reseal Ramok, we’ll return to assist you.”

We stand quiet for a moment, but Mom eventually breaks the silence.

“Why should I do as you say?” Alexander gives her a pleading look.

“Elizabeth, please. I know my actions are unforgivable in your eyes, but I’m asking only once, for your help. After all of this, I will get out of your hair, for good if that’s what you want.” I look between my Mom and Alexander, who just stare at each other like rival wolves.

“Only this once, Alexander.” She says quietly. He is about to thank her, when she raises her finger up to silence him.

“Just bring my daughter home safely. Understood?” He quietly shakes his head yes.

Gramps mumbles to himself and wheels off, earning him a sharp glare from Alexander. Alexander looks at me, expectantly.

“You are ok with this, right?” He asks quizzically. I nod my head yes. He smiles.

“Then I’ll need you to come with me to the Guardian Temple. There’s something there we need to get first. And then… we put an end to all of this. Once, and hopefully, for all.”

I can’t help but hope that this is exactly what will happen. I more than anything, want to end this, as quickly as possible.
