Chapter 75: The Final Sacrifice
What… what’s going on… first I was about to fight Ramok… and then… wait. Where the heck am I?
I am surrounded by thick blackness, with no source of light anywhere.
This is so weird… A loud footstep rings out from the silence.
What was that?!
Slowly, my dark twin emerges from the darkness.
“I swear, Danica, you constantly ask the same old questions. We’re in your soul. Figure it out already.”
I glare at her. “This is different from last time. What’s going on? Are you trying to take over my soul?!”
She lets out a sigh of exasperation. “I would hardly begin acting like that, Danica. I don’t have the power to do so, not right now, at least. I’m here to help. You sorta had an emotional breakdown when you saw what happened to Alexander. Relax, I’m going to help. However, I want you to stay here, until I can keep Ramok away. I’m going to try to heal Alexander and Xah’mmad when I’m done. Alright?”
I reluctantly nod, and she smirks a little.
“I’ll be back soon, however I’ll let you watch. Trust me, it’ll be quite entertaining.”
I’ll bet…
With that, my vision blurs, and then I see what my other half sees, a scowling, venomous dragon about to rend us in two.
We leap up at Ramok, and throw a punch, although I don’t see how punching him in the face is going to do anything.
“Ha ha ha! Are you honestly trying to punch me? Good luck with that…”
And that’s when our fist collides with his massive head, and sends him flying, rolling across the landscape, before finally crashing into a mountain.
Umm… was I always that strong? Because I remember many times that could’ve been useful.
Uggh… no, actually, that was our power working TOGETHER. See how working as a team can be of benefit? We should do this more often. Oh the fun we’ll have.
Ah shut up already! I snap. Ramok gets up, more angry than hurt.
He lets out a fierce roar, and charges a Herriao… whatever it is. My twin doesn’t even flinch.
Umm… any ideas on how we are going to stop that? I ask nervously.
Just shut up and watch.
Ramok finishes charging, and fires the beam of energy, and my other self watches it come closer. She raises our hand and blocks the immense blast, being moved back only an inch. Smiling, she opens her mouth wide, and begins to charge up some kind of dense sphere of energy from within our collective energy.
“No… that’s not… possible… is she… firing a Herriao? Impossible! Only creatures of dragonic descent have the power necessary to fire a Herriao! What is going on with this girl?!” Ramok hisses.
“Not that it matters, I suppose… after all, there is no way it could possibly be a threat to me. It is only a fairy, after all.” Still, I can tell Ramok is uneasy.
Odd… why would a Herriao be something only dragons can use?
I believe that he’s implying that it should be impossible for us to fire a Herriao. They’re immense bursts of magical energy, most if not all of the humanoid races are incapable of using them. Dragonlings are a rare exception to this because they have a long bloodline leading back all the way to actual dragons. We are a special case, our power is far more immense than it is normally possible as a fairy.
