Chapter 36: Destiny’s Force

“You’re not as dumb as you act, Danica Crown. All while bringing your friends. However, the road ends here.” Alexander speaks from behind us. We whirl around, to see him only a few feet away from us. “I can’t have you following me, not where I’m going.” He narrows his eyes, in cold anger.

I glare at him. “I want answers, and you’re going to give them to me.” He laughs shortly.

“What do I look like to you, Danica? Some weak fool incapable of defeating a measly fairy like you? You need to learn a few lessons, and soon. I’d be more than happy than to… It cannot be… this presence….” He cuts off in a low whisper. He turns around and looks in the air, and lets out a terrible, terrified cry of awe and wonder.

“A… Grandfather Dragon?” He whispers. We look up, and we all see what he sees, and we all gasp in awe as well. A massive transparent silver colored dragon, with blue marking running it’s body’s length flies overhead.

“Ungalan, finishan is fanlor.” No. Only their memory. Listen well, mortals, for our time is short, and the Master must soon bid us return to temporary slumber to await his revival.

Have you heard the legends of a great empire of Dragons? How a mighty race of Dragons ruled one great supercontinent? These legends are not at all fantasy. They are truth. What’s more, a sinister evil, a traitor to our kind was indeed responsible for our destruction.

You may ask what his name was, but that would be speaking in past tense. For he has not yet fallen. He was sealed away by his only brother, who also sealed himself, to assure that the world would have one last defense against the terrible evil of his corrupted brother.

The fell dragon’s name is none other than the black dragon, Ramok.

To this day, the seals have held their two captives prisoner for countless ages. They will not last much longer. In fact, Alexander knew the whole time that Ramok has been stirring for a great while. It happened after the Dragonling Kingdoms rose into being here in this very spot, that the secret order that Alexander belongs to, discovered the weakening. Founded by King Alexandi, this order was created to preserve history, even if Dragonling kind should perish.

I turn to Alexander and yell at him. “You knew this kind of thing was going on?! Why didn’t you tell me?!” He growls at me.

“Because before now I was forbidden. By my master, the Spirit Elder. He orders all new and old members of our order to never reveal our organization’s existence, unless we have to.”

In a matter of months, or perhaps even as little as a few days, Ramok could awaken again. His followers desperately have tried to resurrect him, without avail. However, he has been directing them from beneath the Great Seal. His first act since his awakening was to order the attack on the Towers of Torik, the former capital of the Gem Dragonlings. In effect, he set the Chromatic Dragonlings up. Knowing this, Alexander and the Guardians tried to clear their race’s name, but because of their oaths of secrecy, they could not give enough reasons to warrant being spared, and were so banished.

Alexander looks at me. “It is time you knew the truth about me. About me and my order. We are the Guardians, sacred guardians of knowledge and artifacts, and ancient magics.” He pulls his shirt down, and reveals the tattoo. I knew that meant something. I thought in triumph.

“I am a Hurricane Guardian. My powers are Wind, Lightning, Water, Ice, and Sound. Do you remember the Year of Storms?” What a dumb question.

“Of course I know what that was! Of course I remember it!” He tightens his gaze at me.

“Then you should know, that it was I who created that storm. I am the cause of the worst natural disaster of the Alasian continent’s history.” I gasp, before clenching my hands into fists. The Guardian Spirit looks down on us.

There is no time for your petty hatred, for disaster will soon come, not just from Ramok’s talons, but from the Insurrection within the Chromatic Kingdom. If not stopped, their hatred will consume and then destroy the whole world.

Put aside fairy’s hatred of dragonling, and dragonling’s hatred of fairy, and work together against this last great threat to all of Aladoria- or all shall pay the final sum.
