Chapter 51: Post Dilemma

When I woke up, I was in a soft bed, in a hospital.

“Oh thank goodness!” My friend Jessica screamed, crying. I weakly manage,

“Long time no see, Jess.” She glares at me, furious. Her shiny blond hair gleams brightly in the hospital lights, her green eyes glared at me, filled with irritation and worry. She is a rather fit person, with an average fairy height. Her skin is a tan color and….

“Well since you’re up, let’s go shopping, you need new clothes!” …and she’s a fashionista. And I love her to death.

“Off to the store!” She cries out in glee, pulling me out of bed, as she does so, I realize that I am still wearing the clothes from when I had blacked out.

Ah well, at least I’ll be able to focus my mind before confronting the generals about the Insurrection.

For the next few hours, me and Jessica browse through her huge fashion store, eventually finding several lovely dresses and clothes that would work for military missions. I even got a jumpsuit. We decide to relax for a bit, and go to the park, where we sit on a lonely wooden bench in a clearing.

“It’s been nice, Danica, just being able to relax for a while, and hang out with you Danica. I missed you a lot.”

I smile. “Yeah, me too. How’s Hillary?” Jessica sighs.

“She’s fine, but she has had a vision. I think you should go see her.”

I nod. Hillary, another one of my close friends, is a witch, and is capable of seeing the future at random times, but sometimes on demand. I had better see what’s up.

At the Sapphire Isle…

It really was my fault… the Chromatic Dragonling’s banishment, what happened at Sunneroria… but no more. I, as the Ruby Elder, was going to take a stand for once in my life. Alexander has taught me that much. Perhaps in time, he will come to forgive me. As I watch the other Elders vote in favor of war, my chest tightens in nervousness as it becomes my turn, the last vote. I stand up, and stare Tom and all of the other Elders in the eye, before defiantly speaking out.

“If we Gem Dragonlings must raise our swords against our brothers, the Chromatics, then the Ruby Dragonlings will stand against you. I vote no. The Ruby Dragonlings will not assist in the slaughter of our brothers and sisters!” I shout with determination, refusing to allow myself to let others have their way, as I have always done.

“Naltheria…” Tom says in a low voice, stunned by my outburst.

“That is my final decision!” I say in an equally low voice.

He sadly nods his head.

“I understand, the Council recognizes the Ruby Dragonling’s decision not to go to war. As for the rest of us, prepare for landing on the Chaotic Desert.” I sigh, wondering what the world has come to.

Hillary spun around when she heard me coming, her brunette hair spinning in a fan as she looked towards me.

“Danica, I’m glad you’re alright! I need to talk to you about a vision I had earlier, it feels important to me!” Her beautiful blue eyes were pleading, begging me to listen to what she had to say. I sigh.

“Calm down. What did you see Hillary?” She takes a deep breath, and then calmly begins.

“I saw… Alexander. From what I can tell, he is coming very soon… to kill you. Also… I sense… such terrible fury… such hatred… and a terrible suffering caused by a tragic loss of someone close to his heart.” She seems really upset by this.

“Someone… close to his heart?” I ask, confused.

She begins to get a really worried look for some reason. “Someone he loved died. I can’t tell what kind of love or relationship he had, but the thing I picked up about him… is that his heart is almost like a void, an endless swirling abyss of suffering and pain… his hatred is his only escape, his only release… and it won’t go away. I also sensed a great blackness that is threatening to spread all over the world… and choke it to death.”

That last part could only be Ramok… I think to myself. His heart… is like a void? But he displays emotion so well, that isn’t likely…

“You think it’s not likely that what I say is true Danica, but I really do feel that way. It feels like all of his emotions, save for hatred and rage, are all just a mask. All that’s really left is the demons of rage.”

I am silent for a moment, taking in her words, and not sure what I will do about them.

“Danica…” She whispers, in sudden fear.

“What is it, Hillary?” I ask, concerned.

“He’s here.”

At the Chromatic Elder Hall…

“Racla?” Ignitus calls.

“Here!” I call out, irritated.

“Where’s Alexander? He was supposed to be here for this meeting, he never skips a meeting!”

“Maybe he took a day off!” I shout at him.

“You know him better! Now… where could he be…?” Ignitus murmurs.

After a minute of silence, I look over at him, and I am alarmed to see he has an expression of panic.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, concerned.

“He’s gone to kill her. He once told me the reason he left her alive after gravely wounding Quin was because his honor prevented him from harming a child. Now fourteen years have passed. Racla, go to the Fairywoodlands right now. If you don’t stop him now, he won’t stop with her. He’ll kill them all.”

Atop the skyscrapers of Feltatus City…

“Now, Danica Crown… I shall finally have my revenge. And I will finally know peace.”
