Chapter Seventeen: The Assembly
We spent several more hours shopping, I mainly went for a few necklaces, but let Ore have some stuff too. He bought an advanced blacksmith kit. He was an amazing blacksmith back at home. Summer mainly bought clothes. When we were all done, we headed back to the hotel. When we got to the room, Alexander and Orph were back as well. They gestured us to come over.
“What did you learn, Alexander?” I asked, very much interested if they had a plan yet.
“We’re pretty much ready for the operation, but first let me tell you the information we have acquired. We have determined there is live security on the tower twenty four-seven. We have estimated over one hundred foot soldiers alone, with over two thousand more ready to respond to an emergency. It shouldn’t be that hard getting in, just a lot more harder not alerting the guard. Plus, I have no idea if Tom will immediately sound the alarm or not. I would prefer you didn’t hurt him if you did, for old time’s sake. We will begin tomorrow, just before afternoon. So you had better take that time to prepare whatever weapons necessary.” I just nod. The thrill of a challenging op was pumping adrenaline into my system. I urged myself to calm down, we had a little while before the op even begun.
“So our plan is go in the front, and ask for an audience. Tom seems to be allowing the general public to ask favors often tomorrow, just to give himself something to do. So that shouldn’t be a problem. However, we will have a problem keeping Tom from going nuts and sounding an alarm. Remember, I’m only trying to talk with him, so don’t go overboard. After that, I will bring you home, and we both can get our hair free of each other. Any objections?” Alexander asks.
Seeing none, he says, “Alright then, we’re all set. Get whatever you think you’ll need for the mission ahead. It’s going to be an eventful party, let me assure you.” He was right. Tomorrow would be eventful indeed.
