Chapter 55: To Break The Fury of the Heart
“So even you have turned traitor, Racla, Elder. Just as I have always believed. You can trust NO ONE.” The monster that was Alexander snarled with rage. “Very well. Forget the Fairywoodlands. ALL will burn in the fires of my wrath!” He roars, and the tentacles of molten lava begin to lash out at the city, and the monstrous dragon slowly begins to rise onto its hind legs, so that it may advance towards the city. I have no choice but to fight now. I start forwards, but Racla holds out her arm to stop me.
“I have a better idea, Danica.”
If throwing me at several hundred miles an hour is a better idea, then…
“RACLA WHEN I GET DOWN, YOU ARE SO DEAD!!!” I scream, as I sail high into the air, straight over ‘Alexander’. He, or should I say IT, does not fail to notice the fact that a little fairy just got thrown high over his head.
“RRRRAAGGGHHH!” It roars, its tentacles curling towards the sky, while it charges a massive sphere of energy in its maw, while I begin to plummet towards him. The monster then suddenly lets loose the energy it was charging up, and I summon forth a shield of stone to block the attack. The stone holds for but a moment, then begins to crack violently, telling me to get away, fast.
I dart back towards the city, and glance behind me to see what looks like molten missiles roaring right behind me. I try to out maneuver them, barely managing to do so. Once I have dodged the missiles, I turn around and see the hideous draconic monster rise up and stomp onto the beach. I realize, with it being fully out of the water, that it is in fact a lot more humanoid then I had assumed.
Its molten body was bipedal in nature, it’s front legs are actually black obsidian arms, cracked with molten heat. Its fingers are long and reptilian, with equally long claws, and I see the gash in its chest goes down to its pelvis. Huge streams of lava gurgle from the gaping wound.
“RAK’ASI!!!” I quickly realize that the Ancient Draconic word he just spoke was ‘Death!!!’
“Death… TO YOU ALL!!!” I scowl.
“I don’t think so!” I yell, launching myself up at him with an earthen pillar, straight towards the gaping wound in the terrifying monster. It makes a futile attempt to swat me away, and I rush within, and immediately see the core of the beast, a huge molten metal sphere.
That’s it! I just have to destroy that thing…
I decide to quickly and dramatically destroy it, but apparently the Haven’s Cloud has a better idea. Instead of kicking the sphere, I end up kicking it.
DO YOU MIND?!?
The only way you will rid the dragonling of his hatred is to destroy the core. Use me, and I can leech away all of his hatred.
…Makes sense.
Good. Now go!
Without a moment’s hesitation, I stab the blade as deep into the core, and immediately the dragon-monster begins to come apart.
Leave. Quickly, before it explodes.
YOU DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT EXPLODING YOU STUPID SWORD!!!
I destroyed the only means of its existence, therefore, the monster is going to die. Dramatically.
We’ll have to talk about this later.
I fly away as fast as I can, dodging obsidian chunks of the monster as I go, until I make it outside in time, just as it explodes, showering the city in burning embers.
For a moment it’s quiet, but then Alexander’s unconscious body crashes into the ground, landing in a sprawled heap.
Finally… it’s over. It’s all over… We’ve won…
I turn my back to Alexander, to make my way back towards the others, when a blade runs through my back.
“It’s far from over. Far, FAR from over.” A sinister voice echoes from behind me.
