Chapter Twenty Nine: Naltheria, Blazing Mistress of Ruvain
When we land, it cracks and lifts huge chunks of the streets. Fortunately, no one was injured. There was hardly anyone out here. Probably because it was nighttime. I scan the surroundings, and notice nothing threatening, and then I puke, then pass out.
Typical. I honestly wasn’t surprised. Most beings, even one that flies such as a fairy, they aren’t used to that kind of downward velocity. I sniffed the air, and snarl under my breath. Naltheria was coming. And it didn’t take long for her to show up.
“Alexander! So I see you got sprung from jail, huh?” She says, her speech getting a little flustered. I glare at her.
“We can socialize later. She’s hurt. You had better get that wound of hers fixed before she suffers from any more blood loss.” Naltheria flushes, then has her guards come and take Danica away to a nearby hospital. She looks at me, and smiles.
“It’s nice to see you again, Alexander.” I just roll my eyes.
“Whatever, Naltheria.” I walk off, leaving Naltheria behind, who seems to have a confused look on her face.
Yeah whatever, lady. You should already know why I don’t like you.
I woke up with Alexander standing watch close by.
“Good to see you again.” I manage to croak out, my leg still really hurts.
“Good to see you too, Crown. The medic healed the wound up completely, but we’re not going to be landing from the clouds again. And just what are you doing here, Naltheria?” Alexander growls this last part out.
“Hey! Why are you always so grouchy about everything? Can’t an old friend just hang out with you for a minute?” She asks in a hurt voice.
He glares at her, then returns attention to me. “I brought you some food.” Seeing the look on my face, he scowls. “It’s not that I care, it’s just that I don’t need a reason to fight Elizabeth when I take you home.” I sigh, and begin to eat the pancakes he gave me.
Naltheria smiles at Alexander, then says, “I was really worried about you, Alexander. You have no idea.”
He snidely, not to mention sarcastically, replies, “Oh really?”
She smiles, despite his tone. “Yes, really. I was worried that you were going to be stuck in there forever, and now…” She smiles, and then hugs him fiercely.
I thought to myself, Awww….
Alexander began trying to pull her off, when she moved in to kiss him. Excitement poured into my eyes, and I watched…
As Alexander slammed his hand into her cheek, the force of the slap sent her flying. In the next second, I had bolted up out of my bed, and roared,
“ALEXANDER! YOU STUPID BASTARD! HOW DARE YOU HIT A WOMAN WHO WAS TRYING TO KISS YOU!!!” I slapped him in the face as hard as I could. A feral gleam appeared in his eyes, but he just ignored me.
“You dare try and make a move on me after what you’ve done?” Alexander growled just above a whisper.
Naltheria looks terribly confused and hurt. “But… what did I do to you to deserve that?” She cried. He grabs her by the neck of her dress, and holds her in the air.
“Because you didn’t have the BALLS to stand up for yourself and my people! You let the other elders have their way! You could’ve made the vote majority with dissent! We could’ve appealed, Naltheria! You ruined any chance of there being love between us when you betrayed me and my people! In the future, if you ever hope to redeem yourself, you will do better as an elder! And on top of that, after Sunneroria, how dare you look at me in the face!!” This last part he screamed out in pure fury.
Naltheria seemed to shrink with despair. Holding back tears, she whispered, “I’m so sorry Alexander… I…I…I…” She broke down and left, weeping bitterly. I glare at Alexander with violent fury.
“If my legs weren’t injured, I would kill you right now, Alexander.” He smirks, making my blood boil.
“Let’s just get you home. I don’t want to be here any longer then I have to.”
Well guess what, Alexander? Neither do I. You sick bastard! Of all the things you could ever do to a woman, you did THAT?!? You stupid son of a… GAH! I hate you!
I know. And that’s just how I like it, Danica Crown.
