Chapter Twenty One: Noltandalus, The Skykeeper
We had barely gotten out of Dragonling airspace, when we all heard the terrifying roar. The radar immediately picked up a massive entity, and it was moving extremely fast right for us.
“A missile?!” My mother asks the pilot.
“No. Worse. It’s a Sapphire Dragon.” He grumbles gravely. “We’re dead.” I glanced out the window, and gasped at the sight of the dragon. It was huge, bigger then most dragons I’ve seen. And it was coming right at us.
Surrender, for you stare upon Noltandalus, Skykeeper of the Dragonling Isles. I shall devour your corpses once you pay for your transgressions! I shall please Master Tom, and return you to his hands! Prepare to repent your sins!
The dragon’s booming voice crashed like thunder throughout the ship, leaving everyone holding their ears in agony. Sapphire Dragons are extremely dangerous. They breath not only lightning, but also can turn anything their Crystal Breath hits into crystal. If that dragon hit our engines, we were DEAD. And quite frankly, I wasn’t in the mood to die yet.
“Captain! Take evasive maneuvers!” I yell at the pilot.
“Rodger! Let’s get out of here! If we can!” He adds the last part to annoy me.
The ship flies into full output speed, but it’s still not enough to counter the natural speed of a dragon. I begin to sweat nervously, if we couldn’t shake this dragon, we would never get away from him… suddenly, he reared and turned around, and I had no idea, until I felt the knife against my throat.
“Who…who are you?” I choke out in panic.
“My name is Racla Alexnadi-sa.” I gasp, I had long ago learned the naming system of the Dragonlings, and Alexnadi and ‘sa’ meant Alexandi Daughter. This stranger was the daughter of Alexandi!
“What do you want from me?! I’m only trying to go home!” I shout, then immediately I quiet when she presses the knife against my throat.
“Where is he?” She said in a very low, deadly voice. Her voice was like cold steel, dangerous, and without remorse. I could tell that one false move would be the death of me. “Well? Where are you hiding him?” She begins to get angry; her superior strength prevents me from moving an inch.
“I don’t know who and what you’re talking about! Just let me go!” I practically scream
“Yes you do. Where is Alexander? As High Commander Racla I order you to tell me where you have taken Junior Commander Alexander RIGHT NOW, you stupid wrench!” She hisses in rage.
I blink. “Alexander? Didn’t you know? He was arrested by the Gem Dragonlings while we were trying to help him speak to the Sapphire Elder.” She snarled as some of the guards attempted to get close to stop her hold on me.
“Get closer and she dies.” She snarled. They quickly backed away. “That’s better.” She returns her attention to me. “If you’re lying, Crown, you’ll pay with your life.” She evaporates into smoke, and is gone. I shiver in fear, terrified by the experience.
The pilot cries out. “Land sighted, we’ll be home in a few minutes! Prepare for landing!” We all breath a sigh of relief. I could clearly see Feltatus on the horizon, and I felt my heart feel as if it was light as a feather. I was so relieved; I would soon see my close family and friends again.
Soon we are flying completely over the city, and we begin to descend at a nearby military base. As soon as we touched down on the runway, my mother teleported us to the CrownCastle. We arrived in my mother’s private study, where she often conferred with her advisors and other government personal. She sat down wearily.
“What will we tell the media and the people? It’s not as if they’re stupid…” Mom groans.
“I don’t know mother, but I do think we need to tell them something. We should probably just come out with it and save us the trouble from when they find out later.” She nods slowly.
“But what if they don’t approve of our intentions to help Alexander and fight the insurrection you heard about?” She murmurs.
“THAT, we leave out. They may not like that so soon. Besides, if we announce our intentions, who knows what they’ll do. We need to be cautious.” Mom smiles.
“I like the way you think sometimes, Danica.” She pats my shoulder. “Why don’t you go tell Drasmere you came home? He’d be glad to see you.” My face brightens at the word.
“Alright. I’ll see you later mom!” With that, I head off, barely keeping my excitement bottled in me, and I urgently attempt to not skip with pleasure to Drasmere’s house.
