Chapter 54: Naka'sakor ni'Sada
When I came to, Alexander was already rushing me for a deadly strike straight into my chest. I realize I will have to use my Stage mode in order to stop his blade in time.
Suddenly, I am bathed in a soft glow of power, and I easily block his sword strike. He growls in frustration and swings again, only to be parried yet again. By now, his storm had only gotten worse, the occasional tree was starting to be uprooted by the violent winds, as were several hovercrafts. This is getting bad.
Alexander swings again, this time I dodge. The force of the attack almost hits a mother and her child, nearly killing them. I growl, furious.
“Watch what you’re doing! They’re not your enemy!” I yell, swinging my sword at his head, which he blocks, then returns with a furious stab, replying,
“So what? When I kill you, they’ll all be next. Every last fairy, starting with you.”
That finally did it. Up till now, I had been holding back the full force of my Stage. In fact, I have never used it to its full maximum at all. But now…
“Do you even have a heart at all?” I growl, and ditched my sword for a punch to the face. For a moment, all is still. But after a few seconds, it happens. Alexander suddenly flies backward, slamming through several buildings before coming to a halt. After he stands up, the boom goes off, a loud explosion that echoes in the silence that was before.
He regards me with a cold expression, but his eyes show restrained anger, restrained by a calculating look, as if he was trying to figure me out. Without a word, he launches himself at me again, sword raised to stab me. Unlike before, he seemed slow to my eyes. I readied my fist, and waited. When he came close enough, I let loose one last mighty punch, which let off an explosion of noise like that of a nuclear blast, with almost the same force. This time, he went sailing, for some reason burning with intense fire, straight into Feltatus Bay.
Is it… over? I dare wonder to myself. After several minutes, I hesitantly turn my back to the bay and proceed to head home.
But that’s when it happened. One of the most terrifying moments in my life.
“Naka'sakor ni'Sada!!! Screaming Black Moon!!!”
For a terrifying moment, there is silence. Then, a huge black wall of energy erupts from the bay and covers the entire city in darkness.
“You asked if I even had a heart. So let me tell you… THIS IS A REPRESENTATION OF MY TRUE SELF, MY HEART ITSELF!” From the bay, a massive red glow began to appear, and from that glow arose a terrifying molten dragon. From its body, molten tentacles of magma oozed out, lashing out at the city, which was faintly illuminated by the red glow of the monster. The dragon itself had a body of black stone, with a massive gaping wound in its chest, probably where it’s heart would be. It’s mouth’s interior boiled with magma, some of it oozed out of its gaping jaws. It’s wings were blood red, inside them was countless veins, instead of blood, I could tell inside flowed magma. Its eyes were great gaping holes in its head, they almost looked demonic.
I realize with terror, that this is the true representation of all the emotion and suffering he has even been through, and for once, I am not angry at him, instead I am filled with despair for him, that he has gone through so much, the whole time, alone. Now, more than anything, all I wanted to was to reach out and heal this broken heart.
“In this world, there is no compassion. There is no love or kindness. Only fools seek these things out. The strong survive, and all of the weak die. Families are rent asunder, and lovers die in each other’s arms. In this world, there is only suffering. IN THIS WORLD, THERE IS ONLY…. DEATH.” It’s voice was deep and filled with violent hatred, at everything, even itself.
I clench my fist. “You’re wrong. This world may be bleak with suffering, and pain, but there IS also compassion, hope, and even love. It’s not fair that you had to suffer all this time, but now it’s time to move on.”
A hand puts itself on my shoulder, and I turn to see Racla smiling at me.
“You don’t have to do this alone. It’s time that I helped you free him from his suffering.”
I turn and look to see Racla, smiling at me. My only thought is,
“I thought you hate me.”
She sighs. “I did, I still do, a little. But I remember what my father used to tell me, and it makes it a little easier to tolerate your presence.”
I frown. “What did he used to say?”
“It’s not important. What matters….”
“Is that we stop Alexander, here and now.” A familiar voice says from behind me.
I face the Spirit Elder, curious as to why he is here. Then I see the Haven’s Cloud in his arms.
“I know now Danica, that you are meant to wield the Haven’s Cloud. It isn’t just used for slaying evil creatures, it is also used to purify the heart of darkness. Take this blade and deliver a finishing blow to that monster’s head, and rid him of his hatred.” He holds out his hand, holding the Haven’s Cloud, the blade of purity and light, crafted by Irintis herself.
I hesitate, then slowly reach out and take the sword, and it hums with a soft but powerful aura of energy.
Together at last, now face thy enemy and wield me against the fallen hearts of darkness, and you shall prevail.
