Chapter Four of 'The Boy In The Basement':

"Are you capable of staying here on your own?" Mom asked me as I walked her and dad to the door. I nodded and smiled.

"Yes I am. Plus, I am going to unpack a little bit." I breathed. Mom nodded and kissed my cheek. Next was my dad, and then they were gone.

Once the door shut, I let out an airy breath. I turned on my heel and walked up the spiral staircase, going to my room. When I got there, I just  left my bedroom door open. The sun was high in the sky, and it lite up my room like a candle.

I walked over to my window and lifted it up, letting the breeze roam freely in my room, and let the white curtains flap around in the wind. My hair was pulled back in a tight pony tail, and I put on my neon pink short short, and a black tank top.

Since it was only May, it was still hot. Speaking of May, I only have a month left of school. Why do I have to go if it's only a month? It's stupid, if you ask me.

I set up my computer and let music play. 'Me and My Broken Heart' by Rixton was playing through my computer. Music is always my motivator.

I began looking through my boxes, pulling out items to hang on my wall, or just hang in my closet. My dad set up a bookshelf in my room before we even moved in. I can put my book collection on it. I love to read in my free time, if there is nothing on my mind.

"John Green? You like his work?" I jumped and screamed. "Hey! It's just me!" Harry said, shushing me with a book in his hand. I was breathing at a rapid past.

"You scared the shit out of me." I stated.

I walked over to him and saw what he was holding. 'The Fault In Our Stars' by John Green. I grabbed it from his hands, and read the back of it. I wanted to read this for months now, but haven't had time to do so.

"Hazel and Gus are two teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them on a journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous given that Hazel's other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group." I read out loud.

"Hm, sounds interesting." Harry stated. "Mind if I read it to you later tonight?" Harry asked and looked me in the eyes. I met his eyes and smiled.

"Sure." I smiled. Harry smiled and nodded. He walked over to a bean bag in the corner of my room.

He plopped down in it and relaxed. I rolled my eyes and put the book back in the bookshelf. "You have a habit of making yourslef at home, you know that?" I asked and continued unpacking.

Um, this is my home.

"Oh, yeah. I forgot." I mentally face-palmed. "Um, I'm sorry for yelling at you last night." I said quietly.

"It's fine." Harry whispered, not giving much thought in it. I sighed and pursed my lips. I was almost done unpacking.

You have a horrible taste in music.

I turned around to scold Harry, but he wasn't in the bean bag. I scrunched my eyebrows together in confusion and looked around the room. Soon I found the transparent boy sitting in the chair to my desk, looking through my computer.

"Um, excuse me?" I asked and put my hands on my hips. Harry didn't answer as he began looking through my computer. I rolled my eyes and continued unpacking. A song that I have never heard before started playing on my computer.

"Summer has come and passed. The innocence can never last. Wake me up when September ends." Harry sang quietly. My heart pounded hard in my chest at the sound of his angelic voice. He has the lips of an angel.

"Who's this?" I asked and sat down at the edge of my bed, watching Harry. He looked at me and smiled.

"One of the best bands out there" Harry answered. "Green Day." he finished.

"Oh, that rock band?" I asked.

"Yes, that rock band." Harry mocked me with girly, high pitched voice.

"I do not sound like that!" I defend on my behalf. Harry laughed, a real laugh. And holy shit it was amazing.

I rolled my eyes for what seemed the millionth time. I turned my head, observing the room that is known as "mine". My eyes caught a glimpse of a big tree house a ways out in the yard.

"We have a tree house?" I asked and stood up, walking over to the open window.

It was Gemma's and I's tree house, thank you very much, Alice.

"Anyways, I didn't know that was back there." I said and examined it. "Yeah. It was my favorite place to just let my head wander." Harry said honestly. I smiled and turned back around to face Harry.

__

"When are your parents suppose to get home?" Harry asked me as we walked through the tall grass. I shrugged.

"What time is it?" I asked him and kept walking.

Just a second and I'll check." Harry said. I turned to watch him as he ran, but he just vanished.

I rolled my eyes and continued to walk. I was getting closer and closer to the tree house. It was bigger in person then from a window.

It is 4:30.

"Thanks for letting me know." I smiled.

No problem, love.

I felt my cheeks burn with embarrassment. No one has ever called me that before. "Don't think I can't see you blushing." Harry said from beside me. I jumped a little, but not as bad as the others time he has appeared out of nowhere.

"I'm not blushing." I lied.

"Yeah, whatever." Harry chuckled from beside me. I laughed too and let Harry lead the way.
