Chapter Twenty-Five of 'The Boy In The Basement':
My eyes fluttered open, and all I could see was darkness. I sat up, and I felt like I needed to vomit. I turned over on my side, and let everything out. My eyes starting tearing up due to the burning feeling in my throat.
I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, and stood up, turning all around. Where am I? Where's Dad and Harry? "Hello?" I decided to call out. It's better then nothing, because I have no idea where I am, and it's starting to scare the living day lights out of me.
There was no answer. I began walking forward. It was hard to tell where I was going because I couldn't even see three inches in front of me. I held my arms out in front of me, waving them around, just incase I run into the wall or something.
All of a sudden, the room lite up with redness. Live flames were moving on the big four walls locking me in this place. I could finally see, and I turned around to where I was just lying. I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw blood covering the entire flloor where I was laying down.
I started panicking, and I looked at the back of my hand. There was blood smeared on it. I tried scrubbing it off with my other hand, and it slowly went away. I realized that my burn mark was no longer on my arm, and I began worrying even more.
"Hello?" I called out again. There was a demonic, evil laugh, bouncing off from the walls. It was very irratating to my earS, so I covered them with my hands as best as I could. I uncovered my ears when I couldn't hear the laughter anymore. "Who's there?" I whispered loudly. "The Devil." I gasped, and began screaming.
"Alice! Alice! Wake up, it was just a dream!" I heard someone yelling. That's when I realized I was screaming my head off. I stopped, opened my eyes and sat up on the couch. I was breathing rapidly, and tears began pouring down my face.
"What the hell is going on, Harry?" my Dad commanded. Harry ignored him and he grabbed my face in his hands, making me look at him in the eyes. "Are you okay?" Harry asked me quietly. I shook my head. "It was terrible, Harry." I whispered to him.
"I know. We both knew." Dad joined in. I widened my eyes and looked at my hands and arms. My burn was back. There was no blood at all. "What happened to the blood?" I asked and looked at Dad and Harry. Both of them gave me confused looks. "Blood? What are you talking about?" asked Dad.
I began shaking as I looked at my hands, over and over again. "You just passed out with a very high fever, babe." Harry answered me, pushing back a strand of hair from my face. Was that whole dream thing a threat?
Alice? What happened in your dream? We shouldn't call it a dream, it's a nightmare.
"Harry, I woke up in a pitch back room, I threw up, then the room was lite with flames on the walls. Then there was this evil, laugh that was hurting my ears. I saw from when I threw up, I threw up blood. And when I asked 'who's there' they replied with, 'the Devil'."
Harry looked at me with a shocked expression. We still haven't told Dad about him being able to get inside of my head, and we still haven't told him about Miles. That may change now, because this is getting very serious. I am so scared right now.
Harry store at me with a scared expression upon his face. It was as if he was trying to piece together everything. I watched him and swallowed the saliva that was beginning to build up. My forearm started to burn, and I looked down. It was my burn.
That's when it all made sense to me. It's Miles. Miles is the one behind all of this. He is giving me threats, because I am not giving up my soul for him. I'd have to be higher then cloud nine in order to do that.
"Miles." Harry growled. "Wait, wait," Dad paused and looked at us. Harry moved his hands away from my face, and we both looked over at him, waiting for him to continue. "Miles? The boy that you've been hanging with?" he asked me.
I slowly nodded. I still can't believe that I thought he was a good guy. I guess some people have different side to them. When they are with people, and when they aren't. And, I couldn't believe he was dead. He seemed so normal. I mean, yes, Harry is dead, it doesn't mean I don't think he isn't normal.
"Yes, Miles. He is basically a demon, sir. And, last week, when he came over, he tried taking her soul," Harry began explaining. Dad put on his listening ears, and watched Harry as he spoke. I began to feel bad that I didn't tell my own Dad about all of this.
"You see these burn marks on Alice's arm? Yeah, those are from him when he tried taking away her soul." Harry pointed to my arm, and I shifted uncomfortably when Dad looked at my arm. "Okay," he trailed off.
"So, what was with her nightmare?" asked Dad. "Threats." I answered simply. Both men looked over at me with shock that I spoke up about the whole situation. "Exactly," Harry gave me a small smile and nodded his head. I did the same, and he turned his head away from me to look at Dad again.
"He's trying to scare her so she'll give it up more easily." Harry sighed and rubbed his face. Dad looked back from Harry, to me. "Alice, we need to get out of this house." he said. I widened my eyes. "Dad! No, no, please. I love it here!" I begged.
I couldn't think of leaving this house. I couldn't think about leaving Harry. My eyes started watering, and Harry had no emotion in his face, which scared me. Dad looked sad, as if he didn't want to move either.
"I can't risk you getting hurt." he whispered to me. "Daddy," I cried. "I don't want to move! I love it here! It's been a long time since I've liked a place where we moved to. Please, you have to understand! Harry is here, he will protect me."
He better let me stay, I don't know what I'd do if I had to move. I don't even know what I'd do without Harry. Dad looked like he was debating with himself in his head. Harry needs to get in his head and convince him! I have to stay.
"If something ever happens, we are out of here in a heart beat." Dad said. I smiled and nodded. "Okay, thank you, Dad. I love you." I said. Dad smiled then turned to Harry. "Take care of my daughter, Mr. Styles." Dad warned.
"I will, sir." Harry smiled. That's when I pulled all of us in a big group hug.
