At seventeen, life was supposed to be easy. A time where friends round up, make memories of their last year in high school and then get shipped off to college to start their lives. But for Michelle White, at seventeen it appeared as if she lived in an entirely different universe. One where her life is surrounded by death, toxic men that could only be found at the depth of a cliche novel and unexplainable twists of events that sends her life spiralling in a path she never expected for herself.
Michelle White, the 'good girl' next door was anything but the cliche stereotype. She was more than that. She wasn't simple, or boring, or devoted to her schoolwork and her prestigious parents. No, she was damaged goods, on the outside she was yellow and ripe and in the eyes of everyone, she was the girl all mothers desired for their sons to wed. But on the inside, she was rotting away, blackened by her darkest desires that only come out to play when in the company of someone who battles the same crippling addiction as she does.
She thought everything had finally gone back to normal after one sudden turn of events in her already unordinary life had taken place, until she meets him; Mason Hunter, the juvenile delinquent whose form of art is damage. Loving and charming were two words you could use to describe Mason, but on a bad day terrifying and dangerous held as much meaning. Everyone sees an asshole who disregards people's feelings on the outside, but that's what happens when you look at the world through a colourful lens. No one could see the boy struggling to cope with his mental health on the inside, only the one damaging himself and everything on the outside.
What happens when two damaged teens find their way to one another? Will Michelle's life finally be normal? Or will Mason poison her more with his toxic love, a love so unhealthy, obsessive and unnatural. . .no one dares to question it.
Disclaimer: Much like a lot of writers here on Wattpad, I wrote this story when I was 14 (I am now 21 and mortified when I re-read this shit) I was YOUNG, DUMB and wanted to be part of the 'good girl bad boy' trend with a little twist. This book is filled with WTF moments and there's literally NOTHING realistic about it when compared to the real world which makes it both uniquely weird and entertaining. This book will piss you off, you'll hate the female and male lead and you will lose brain cells, you have been warned.
Also, this part is important: a lot of readers find this book triggering in some ways because they don't understand that this story is to specifically show readers what it's like to be in a toxic relationship; cheating, arguments, even mental abuse and everything that comes with it. I'm not idolizing toxic relationships but society can't ignore that these relationships do exist whiles they hide behind a glass door and look from outside. It happens and not many books portray it in fear that they get bashed for it but I was and still am fearless.
Mason also suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder, and a lot of people don't know about this disorder or understand how it affects people in real life. A lot of Mason's decisions and actions aren't because he's cruel and selfish, they're because he's suffering from an illness that dictates his emotions and makes him act out in certain ways. This book does not have the best representation of BPD (again I wrote it when I was 14 wtf did I know?) So take a lot of Mason's actions and motivations with a grain of salt in regard to understanding this disorder.
