** three days later **

** JJ's POV **

I wake up with a sharp intake of breath, and I see the whole team gathered by my bedside. Except Emily.

"Hey, wakey wakey sweetheart."

"Who are you?" I ask the unfamiliar woman. My head hurts so much.

"Dr Leah Fairway. It's good to see you awake, Jennifer. Do you know why you're here?"

"No? The last thing I remember was trying to open a door, I think. I don't know. I can't think straight. My head hurts bad." I whisper. "I want Emily."

The doctor leaves to get some painkillers.

The team exchange worried looks.

"What's happened? Where is she, Hotch?"

Hotch doesn't answer me. Instead, its Penelope who takes my hand. Her eyes are blotchy behind her glasses.

"Jaydge, it's not your fault. She wanted to give you her kidney. And she did. She went into surgery, and the operation went fine. But she didn't tell the surgeons about her encounter with Doyle and the scarring and wounds in her abdomen. They still hadn't healed properly. She lost a lot of blood during the procedure. They were carrying out CPR in the OR." She was shaking so hard as she cried.

My heart drops to the floor. Tears rolling down my cheeks, I try to speak.

"And?"

This time it is Hotch who answers.

"She's in the room next door. Jaydge, she's on life support. She might not make it."

I can't keep it in any longer. I throw up down the side of the bed, and my stomach aches. I cry out in pain and Reid rushes off to find a doctor.

Dr Fairway rushes back inside with a glass of water in one hand and some tablets in the other. The glass slides out of her grip as she comes to help me.

"Jennifer, it's okay.  Take it easy."

"I can't my stomach hurts. My head hurts. Everything hurts. And he's here. I can feel the man who did this here. WILL IS HERE!" I yell at the top of my voice.

** Hotch's POV **

Dr Fairway sedates her as she tries to get out of bed. She's being paranoid, of course Will wasn't in the building. He wouldn't dare go anywhere near her.

And then I hear his voice outside in the corridor.

"Yes, she's my friend. A close friend. She's told me all about her problems. I'll look after her."

JJ looks like an angel as she sleeps through the sedative, and the rest of the team are as frightened as I am.

"What do we do?" Penelope asks.

"We face him." I answer, and give her shoulder a friendly squeeze.

"It's now or never." Derek agrees, and withdraws his gun.

Dr Fairway looks so scared.

"Doctor, it's okay. We know what we are doing." Reid tries to comfort her. But she's freaking out right now.

"Please put the gun away. Please. Just get that man out of the hospital or something. He shouldn't be here after what he's done. He is one of the many monsters that roam our earth."

"We will. I promise, Leah. But first,  you have to trust us. Now leave the room, walk towards reception, and dial 911. Tell them to send more police backup. Can you do that?" Morgan asks.

Shaking, she nods and slips out through the door. My fingers tighten around my own gun as the door slowly opens.

BANG.

I can't see anything. I can't hear anything. I am helpless.
