** Two weeks later, Emily's POV **

"Aaron!" I call down the stairs, and I hear him rushing to my aid.

I hate having to use a wheelchair, but I'm lucky to still be alive. I can still use my arms and everything above my waist, but the doctors couldn't do anything about my legs and my waist. I'm dealing with it, but until we install a stairlift, I can't go up and downstairs without assistance.

Our unit has been given another two months off, to recoperate and relax. Aaron's been taking ever such good care of me. And JJ and Garcia have been round almost every day to discuss weddings. I've never seen JJ look so excited.

Aaron helps me downstairs and I wheel myself into the kitchen, where a steaming plate of eggs and toast is waiting for me.

"Wow, breakfast is served already. You're getting good at this, sir." I say with a laugh, and Aaron plants a kiss on my forehead.

"Now, don't forget, JJ's wedding practice is at 3 pm. I need to collect the suits from the dry cleaners, but I'll be back to pick you up at 2 so be ready." He says as he slips out the front door.

As I have the whole day ahead I load up my computer and check the news headlines. All twelve escaped criminals have been accounted for now. 8 dead in total, including Will, and the other four are in maximum security prisons in isolation. And then I read an interesting article about fertility treatments in the US. I think about me and Aaron. We both want children of our own, but I can't really give birth any more since I'm paralysed below the waist. But there are people willing to be surrogate mothers. All scientists would need is sperm and eggs from us, and then they would fertilise them in vitro and implant into another woman's womb.

Excited, I save the webpage and go to get ready. I have two rooms now. One upstairs for sleeping in at night, and one downstairs with all my clothes and stuff in. I didn't want to sleep away from Aaron, so he carries me up each night and down each morning, and I spend all day downstairs. I can't wait to see how Rossi decorated his back yard, which is massive. He lives in a fricking mansion.

** 2:05 pm **

Hotch comes through the door to take me to the car. As we settle in, I bring up the article that I read earlier.

"Aaron, there are people willing to be surrogates for couples, if you want to have a child of our own. What do you think?" I ask, not hesitating to get to the point.

"Emily, I'd love very much to have a child. One with you. But is this the right time?" He asks.

"Aaron, there's never going to be a right time. I've filed with the director to work from home, and set up a link with Garcia while you guys all go on cases. We're ready, I know we are. It's what I want. Do you want to?" I ask him as we pull up outside Rossi's mansion.

"Later. I promise we'll talk." And he kisses me to seal the promise.

I hold on to that kiss.
