** Dr Aisha Walker's POV **

It's a beautiful morning. I go to give Jennifer her morning medicine, and I'm shocked by what I see. She's lying awake with her eyes wide open in fear, her cheeks stained with tears and blood spots on the sheets.

I drop the tray of pills and rush over to her side. She flinches as I touch her shoulder, and moves to the edge of the bed.

"Go away." She says in a shaky voice and turns to face the wall.

"Jennifer? What's wrong? Has something happened?"

"I said leave me alone." She says more fiercely, and I decide to leave her.

I can't get her out my mind. Her eyes. Her blue eyes were wide open. I decide to ring Dr Reid again to see if he knows anything that happened that might make her sensitive to human touch.

"Dr Reid?"

"Yes, what is it?"

"I need to talk to you about Jennifer."

"Sure. We're on our way to see her now. Is everything alright?"

"Doctor, I think something's happened. This morning, I found her lying frozen in bed, with her eyes wide open in fear. She flinched at my touch and won't say anything except to leave her alone."

"Don't do anything. We'll be there right away."

** Reid's POV **

"How fast does this thing go?" I ask Morgan as we drive on the highway. We had stayed in a nearby hotel for the night.

"Why?" He asks me, then he sees my face.

"What's happened?"

"I don't know. But we need to get to the hospital as soon as possible. JJ's in some kind of shock, as if from some attack or something last night."

Morgan nods and he steps on the gas.

We arrive at the hospital in about five minutes, and I rush inside, looking for JJ.

"Hey, excuse me. Do you know where I can find Dr Aisha Walker?" I ask at the reception desk.

"She's here." A voice comes from behind me.

I spin round and a tall dark-haired woman stands behind me in burgundy scrubs holding a set of keys.

"Dr Reid? Please, come with me."

My heart is pounding out my chest. I don't want to go in. I'm afraid of what I will see. Dr Walker opens the door and I enter tentatively.

JJ is huddled in a corner wrapped in a thick blanket. Her eyes don't move at all, and she doesn't say anything when I greet her.

"Hey, Jaydge, what's up?"

Determined to get her to talk to me, I go round in front of her and hold her hand. Suddenly, she pulls her hand out of mine and swings it high. Tears spring to my eyes as she hits my cheek hard and tells me to go away.

I'm sad more than anything else. Sad that this is what she has become. A nervous wreck who doesn't let anyone come close. It breaks my heart to be so close to her but not anywhere near her.

Dr Walker takes me back outside where the team are waiting. Garcia gives me a hug.

"Doctor, how's her pregnancy going?"

"Well we haven't had any complications..."

As soon as she says the words, there's a beep coming from JJ's room. I'm held in the waiting area as doctors and nurses rush to JJ.

** Dr Aisha Walker's POV **

"Blood pressure is crashing. I don't understand, why has she got another bleed?"

Jennifer is being restrained in her bed as she tries to fight the medics.

"No leave me alone. I want to die. I want it to die."

Her eyes flutter as she loses consciousness and as I adjust the blankets, I realise what's wrong.

I didn't understand why, but she had cut open her scar from surgery.

"We need to operate here. She won't make it to the OR. I need oxygen going. Now!"

The surgery goes on for three hours before we finally close her up. I take her off bypass and we all hold our breaths as we wait for her to breathe once more. A nurse stands ready with a defibrillator. After a minute, we decide to put the pads on, and the machine stops beeping. Jennifer breathes again on her own.

"Oh, thank the Lord. Now Jennifer is stable, we need to check on the baby."

That's when we find something else.
