This isn't what I want

chapter 54

** Seven months later, JJ's residence, JJ's POV **

I wake up to the smell of pancakes. My alarm only showed 7:57 am. Too early. But as I roll over I get interrupted by a loud yell.

"Mommy! Breakfast!" 

"Coming, Henry." I reply and drag myself out of bed.

As I pull on a sweater over my pyjamas, I look in the mirror at my belly. It's massive now. I make my way downstairs and Spence sits at the table with two mugs of steaming herbal tea and two plates of freshly cooked strawberry pancakes. Henry is feeding Aria, who's smiling as she bounces up and down on his lap.

"Morning, honey." Spence says to me as I sit down.

 "Hi, Spence. What's this? Breakfast and tea? You're spoiling me." I giggle as he makes a gesture to start cutting my pancakes. "Hey, I can do some things." I protest.

"Careful. I'll have you washing the car."

"Very funny. You know I've got another scan today." I say as I take a bite of my pancake.

"Of course. Your carriage awaits, my sweetheart." He laughs.

I asked Spence to move in as soon as I was discharged from hospital, about four months ago. He was so overjoyed. I loved him, I knew I always did. It felt wonderful to have him next to me when I go to sleep and wake up. His body next to mine keeps me sane at night, keeps the demons away. I haven't had a single nightmare since I left hospital, with Spence by my side.

** Hospital scan, Reid's POV **

Holding JJ's hand tightly, we walk together into the hospital room. 

"Jennifer, nice to see you again. How's the pregnancy going?" The doctor asks her.

"Good thanks." She smiles and shakes his hand before he shakes mine and we sit down.

"So, we're going to just go through the usual process. If you would lift up your shirt and lie on the bed." He says, and JJ lies on the bed.

He rubs the gel on her belly and picks up the sensor. The sound of the heartbeat is so steady, JJ almost cries as her baby appears on the monitor.

"Hello, sweetie. Not long now." She whispers.

The doctor looks confused and moves the sensor around before we get a shock. The figure of another baby behind the first one. She's having twins.

** JJ's POV **

"Twins? Are you sure?" I ask him again, and he shows me the monitor.

"Jennifer, you have two beautiful daughters. Congratulations."

I feel like I'm about to cry, and I look over at Spence. He's beaming with joy.

"Spence, we're going to have another two baby girls!" I say excitedly as he wipes the gel off my belly.

"I can't wait!" He says and squeezes my hand tight as I stand up.

As we drive home, we discuss names, and more names. 

"I don't know what to call them! I want their names to be perfect." I say in a fluster as we pull up outside our house.

Suddenly he turns to me. He's got a wide smile. I don't know what he's doing. He pulls out a small box from his pocket, and I immediately gasp.

"Jennifer Jareau, you've been the only one I've ever loved. And I want to be with you forever! So, will you do me the honour? Will you marry me?" His eyes widen in anticipation.

I don't even need to think about it.

"YES!" I answer, and I press my lips against his.

At last, he's mine.
