Reflection | YOONMIN

About

Yoongi and Jimin get paired up to work on an assignment together and as they grow closer, they form feelings for each other. It sounds like a cliche love story, but this is far from it. Jimin is really quiet and keeps to himself most of the time. He also has these weird habits that Yoongi picks up on as they get closer such as wearing clothes that are clearly too big, fearing his parents, disappearing for small amounts of time, and making up excuses as to why he's not eating or eating too little. As they grow closer, they form feelings but won't tell the other. Yoongi doesn't know if Jimin feels the same and Jimin won't say anything due to fear of rejection. Things get really complicated between them. Once they open up to each other, Yoongi learns about Jimin's past relationships and why he's scared and he also learns about Jimin's little secret that could possibly cost him his life. Will Jimin allow himself to completely open up to Yoongi? Will Yoongi be able to be there for Jimin the way he needs?

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS AN AU AND I DON'T ACTUALLY DEPICT THESE CHARACTERS THIS WAY! It's a story I made up, it's fictional and the plot and the way the characters act is completely fictional. I do make Jimin very vulnerable and submissive, but it's just for plot purposes. But this topic is really important to me and I'm trying to shed light on it, which is one of the reasons why I wanted to portray him like this. Mental illness and eating disorders destroy people's lives as well as their loved ones' lives. It's important to notice the early signs of an eating disorder (or even an undiagnosed mental illness) and how to handle them. This happens in real life every day and I want to bring positive attention to the topic without glorifying it.

I don't want to offend anyone with how I portray these topics/characters. Please just know that what I've created, I did it for plot purposes and in no way would I ever intentionally want to offend someone or illustrate these topics/characters in a bad or malicious way.

ANOTHER DISCLAIMER: I did think of this concept and the entire plot of the story myself, however, there may be another story or stories out there with a similar plot or concept. I'm not copying anyone if someone had the same idea as me and did it first. The only thing that I didn't come up with are the characters, obviously. They are real people (except for the parents and maybe a couple extras) and how I portray them is completely 100% made up and fictional.

Characters:

The story will be written in third person omniscient, meaning that the narrator will write about all of the characters' thoughts throughout the story rather than focusing on one person's thoughts. I'll try to make it the least bit confusing as possible because not that many stories are written in this point of view.

- Jimin (as himself) is 19 (I'm altering the ages a little bit) at the beginning of the story and is a freshman in college. He has one older brother, JiHyun (his brother in real life is younger but in the story I'm making him older for plot purposes) and he's the closest with him in the family. His best friend is Jungkook. He has a rough relationship with his parents as they always made him feel like he wasn't good enough. They're also homophobic and have never approved of any of his relationships. They are the main cause of his anxiety/depression and they also contributed in driving him to develop an eating disorder. He still lives with him for the first portion of the story. Him and Yoongi become friends and eventually get even closer. He has a hard time opening up to people even though he may want to. He fears rejection and people who he loves leaving him. 

- Yoongi- (as himself) is 20 and junior in college in the beginning of the story. He's an only child. His best friend is Hoseok. He's close with his parents. He's very confident and mostly carefree about a lot of things (not in a bad way like he doesn't care about anything, but more so that he just goes with the flow). He's studying to work in the entertainment industry and he is graduating the following year. He and Jimin become friends and they end up getting really close.

- Hoseok- Yoongi's best friend. He's 20 in the beginning of the story. (Not really much else I can say about him tbh.) But he will be involved a lot in the story.

- Jungkook- Jimin's best friend. Still in high school in the beginning of the story. (He's a minor character and probably won't be mentioned a lot)

- JiHyun- Jimin's older brother. Lives with his girlfriend about two hours away from Jimin. They are both really close and Jimin plans on moving in with JiHyun after he graduates.

- Taehyung- Jimin's most recent ex boyfriend that cheated on him and who Jimin can't get over. He'll be involved closer toward the beginning of the story.

- Other minor characters will be mentioned such as Yoongi's parents and Jimin's parents.

TRIGGER WARNINGS:

This story depicts triggering and sensitive topics such as mental illness, eating disorders, deep emotional distress, broken families, cases of homophobia, strong sexual content, and strong language/cursing (I don't have the story completely done so this may not be all, if I add anything that could possibly be triggering I will be sure to clearly state it before the chapter).

This is a really sensitive topic and may be hard for some people to read. My intention is NOT to romanticize or glorify mental illnesses/disorders, but rather to shed light on them. I also don't want it to look like people with these illnesses/disorders need a significant other to in order to get better, they do not I just thought of the plot this way and wanted to write a story with two of the boys from BTS.
