Amy's POV

I was showered and changed into my pajamas. I crawled into my warm, soft bed, and under the blankets.

My Mom walked in as I was about to fall asleep.

"Hey, honey, how was your first day?"

"Terrible, tiring." I replied.

"Why? What happened?"

I sat up in my bed, suddenly not as tired as I was.

"I got into this stupid argument and now I have to work unpaid overtime tomorrow." I sighed.

"Isn't tomorrow your prom?" Mom questioned.

I nodded.

"They can't just let you not go to prom." She insisted.

"Yeah. She can. She could fire me." I said.

"Oh." Mom let out. "Woah, wait, who did you get into an argument with, and why?"

"I was suppose to bag the groceries as the cashier scanned them, so I did." I said.

"And, how did that start an argument?"

"He said I wasn't doing it right, but I told him that I didn't need his input, and yeah."

"Oh, well.... You've got to learn to be more understanding, I guess."

"What?" I shot out in shock. "You're taking his side?"

"No, no, sweetie, I'm not taking anybody's side, I'm just saying that as a suggestion-"

"I've had enough suggestions for tonight, thank you." I rolled away from my Mom's direction.

"I'm sorry, honey. Maybe I could talk to this manager of your's and talk things through about prom."

"No, Mom, you don't understand. She's so stubborn, and she won't change her mind." I sat up again.

Mom just stared at me for a moment before letting out a sigh, and exiting my room.

* * *

I've tried to fall asleep so many times, but I just couldn't.

I was tired, but I wasn't sleepy.

Staring up at my dark ceiling, the scene from earlier wouldn't stop replaying.

Over and over.

I kept thinking about the way she grabbed him from behind.

He's told me once before that it was only him pretending to like her because he needed the extra cash.

They were literally flirting right in front of me though.

He was probably trying to make me jealous.

I shouldn't be jealous.

I wasn't jealous.

Well-

Maybe I was a little bit.

So what, if I was?

The whole thing that we had together was gone now.

It's all in the past.

Plus, he's now dating one of my close friends.

And, I'm dating one of his close friends.

And I'm happy.

And he's happy.
