WANTED: TUTOR

Chapter 37.1

Julie's POV

It's graduation day. Sobrang nakakaba na ewan. Excited and nervous. Yan. Yan yung naffeel ko ngayon. Jusko. Pwede bang wag na magspeech?

"Just remember, focus your eyes on me." yan ang paalala sa akin ni Elmo kanina before procession.

Since magkaiba kami ng course, magkalayo rin ang pipilahan namin for the procession. Nasa bandang dulo siya samantalang ang IS naman ay medyo bungad.

"Here is Ms. Julie Anne San Jose, our summa cum laude for her words of gratitude." ani Dean De Vera.

Tumapak na ako sa stage at tumayo sa maliit na stool para sa podium. Tumikhim ako at pinagmasdan ang batchmates ko.

"To our president, Dr. Mildred S. Pascual, our deans, to all the faculty members, staffs, fellow graduates, parents and friends, a pleasant evening to all of you.

This is probably one of the last times I am going to stand here in this auditorium and I must tell you, it feels surreal. This place was the first place I went to 4 years ago when I had my first day as a college student. And now I can't believe I am finally going to say goodbye to this place and to the whole Staffordshire University. I have spent my college years in this institution. You can say that I have memorized every room, every building and well, almost every tree in this school. And each one of them have been witnesses to the unforgettable stories how we, the Batch 2015, have lived our college lives. It is true what they say, "You never really leave a place or a person you love, part of them you take with you, leaving a part of yourself behind."

On behalf of my fellow graduates, allow me to take this time to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the people who have been with us every step to lead us in this stage.

To the Staffordshires, I thank you first and foremost for establishing this school and giving an opportunity for students like me to learn and live the Staffordshire values. With these, we know that as we step outside these walls, we will be okay, because we have already established a good character founded in the Staffordshire formation.

To all our "Miss" and "Sir", thank you is not enough for everything you have done for our batch. You did not only teach us the academic lessons but you shared us your life stories which have inspired us to become better students.

To our families, most especially to our parents. Thank you for the sacrifices. We stand here in this stage not only for us but also for you because our achievements are also your achievements. Your love and support for us makes us strong. And to borrow a quote from a commercial, "Para kanino ka bumabangon?" Alam po namin sa puso namin na kayo'y bumabangon para sa amin.

To the Batch 2015, we did it! After all the days of studying, memorizing, solving, researching, doing plates and the sleepless nights, we finally reached the pinnacle of our college life. I have to be honest, my life would be more quiet now that I won't be able to hear your voices along the corridors or your hirits inside the classroom and the cafeteria. I won't be able to hear your laughters in the nipa huts by the pool area and I won't be hearing the squealing girls running after the boys of the Management and Engineering departments. But this, my life would be less colorful now that we'll finally part ways. I will forever be proud that I was part of a batch full of awesome individuals. We proved that true greatness lies in the heart. We might separate ways, but this is not goodbye. Our friendship will never end and I strongly believe that all of us will be great in the future.

Like what I've said a while ago, this campus has been witness to what we've gone through for the past four years and who we have become. This place will forever be embedded in our hearts because of the moments we've spent here. The times we sat down in the nipa huts for lunch or to study, the moments we bumped into someone who soon became part of our lives, the times we spent cheering for our school during the games at the gymnasium, the quiet moments spent during research in the library and many more. These memories that seem endless and will never be forgotten. But what's important are the values we've learned and the people who changed our lives during those moments. Thank you Staffordshire University for the incredible four years.
