WANTED: TUTOR

Chapter 1

The high, thick walls. That huge metal gate. The strict guards. The vast expanse of the soccer field. The 9 multi-storey buildings and the chatters of the students passing-by. Well. Hello, first day.

"WELCOME BACK BULLTERRIERS!"

It was a welcome back banner tied below the school's name, Staffordshire University. We were staring at that sign since we got here. Yup. First day feels.

"More like, 'Welcome back to hell'. " sabi ng kambal. Napatingin ako sa kanila and saw how they both looked disgusted.

"Uhm. Seniors na tayo pero di ko pa rin gets why we're called bullterriers. Hindi naman diniscuss yan nung freshmen orientation diba?" my bestfriend asked.

"Dude, we have a walking dictionary with us." sabi ng isa sa kambal sabay tingin sa akin. "Take it away, Jules!"

"Hay. Staffordshire, England is the place where the first mixed breeding of a bulldog and a terrier happened in 1901. It is where it gave birth to a new dog called, the bullterrier. Thus, the school's name." sabi ko sabay turo sa sign sa may gate.

"Booyah! Told you, Maq. As long as we have Julie, there's nothing to worry about. Hahaha." sabi pa ng isa sa kambal.

"God. What will I do if I don't have you bes? Baka ikamatay ko." sabi ni Maqui.

"Haha. Ewan ko sa inyo. Tara na sa loob. Baka magstart na yung ceremony." anyaya ko tsaka na kami naglakad papunta sa auditorium para sa opening ceremony ng school.

Oo nga pala. I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Julie Anne San Jose, 20 years old and a senior college student taking up International Studies. I'm a consistent dean's lister and yes, I'm a nerd. I don't have braces but I do wear thick eyeglasses. I'm a member of the NBSB group. Haha. Joke lang. Di naman member pero NBSB pa talaga. No time for love. I have to finish my studies and I still want to travel around the world.

"Hoy. Nagddaydream ka nanaman ba?" siniko ako ng bestfriend ko.

Onga pala. Si Frencheska Farr, or mostly called Maqui, is my bestfriend. She's the captain of Staffordshire volleyball team. Baliw tong babaeng to. Matalino rin pero minsan nabobobo. Siguro dahil sa daming tama ng bola sa ulo niya kapag hindi niya narerecieve ng maayos kapag game. Pero kahit baliw si Maqui, mahal na mahal ko yan. She's more like a sister to me. Minsan nanay na nga siya kung umasta eh. Haha.

"Hoy. Baliw na ata. Nakangiti mag-isa." puna ng isa sa kambal.

"Jules, nagbreakfast naman tayo ah. Nyare sayo?" sabi ng isa pa.

Sila naman ang kambal kong bestfriends. Sina Lorraine at Beatrice Villaflores. Or mas gusto nilang itawag sa kanila ay Orange and Blue. Weird no? Pero astig. Haha. Si Orange, ang panganay by 1 minute and si Blue naman ang bunso. Makulit tong dalawang to. Laging laman ng OSA dahil sa kalokohan nila. Parehas boyish sina Blue at Orange. They're one of the boys dahil siguro puro lalaki ang mga kapatid nila. Pero kahit pasaway yang dalawang yan, mababait naman sila kahit pano. Maaasahan in times of trouble.

"Hay. Malala na to. No cure at all." Maqui said while shaking her head.

"Hoy hindi ah. Pinakilala ko lang naman kayo sa readers." sabi ko naman.

Tinignan ako ng masama ng tatlo.

"Readers?!" tanong nila.

"Oo. Sila oh!" sabi ko naman.

"Ay! Ewan ko sayo, Julie. Baliw!" ani Orange.

"Bal, ganyan daw pag matalino. Nagiging baliw na sa sobrang daming alam." sabi ni Blue habang inaakbayan ang kakambal.
