The Goblet of Fire stood in the middle of the room with a white line tracing the outside of the stand. Groups of students stood or sat outside the white circle watching students from Hogwarts, Durmstrang and Beauxbatons enter the circle to enter their names into the Tournament.
"Are you sure about this, Cedric?" Thea asked.
"Positive," Cedric replied stepping gingerly into the circle and entering his name into the Goblet. The Goblet gave a quick burst of blue flame illuminating the room in a blue light.
"See Thea. Completely fine." Thea rolled her eyes in reply and joined Max on one of the benches who was currently talking to Hermione about her new club.
"Hi Thea," Hermione chirped happily. "Here you go!" Hermione handed her a flyer.
"What's this for?"
"It's a flyer for a club that I started!"
"S.P.E.W?"
"It stands for the 'Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare."
"Interesting."
"So will you join? You can help Max and me to provide the house-elves with the freedom and justice they deserve."
"Of course, I'll join."
"It's just two sickles."
"Here you go."
"Thanks."
A sudden commotion scared the girls. Fred and George had just entered the Great Hall yelling and jumping.
"What on earth are they doing?" Max asked.
Fred and George did a quick lap of the room still yelling and jumping, as they passed the girls, Thea could have sworn she saw Fred wink at Max.
"Thank you, thank you very much. Well, lads, we've done it," George shouted.
"Cooked it up just this morning." Fred also shouted beaming ear to ear. The twins pulled out small test tubes. They were going to try to put their names in the Goblet.
"Idiots," Thea muttered under her breath.
"It's not going to work." Hermione's voice rang out from beside Thea.
"Really? Why is that, Granger?" Fred turned around looking at Hermione, challenging her.
"You see this?" Hermione gestured towards the white line. "This is called an age line. Dumbledore drew it himself."
"So? What's the big deal?" Fred's headstrong personality was making another appearance.
"So a genius such as Dumbledore couldn't possibly be fooled by something pathetically dimwitted as a simple age potion."
"Well, that is why it is so brilliant..." George spoke up.
"...because it is so perfectly dimwitted." Fred finished for him.
Hermione looked like she was about to argue back but Thea got her attention and slightly shook her head.
"Leave it. They are idiots nothing you say will stop them."
"Ready Freddie?"
"Ready Georgie?"
Everyone watched as the twins drank their mixture and jumped in the circle. The twins both stood tall, arrogant and proud grinning. Everyone's eyes widened, no one could believe they had actually fooled the age line using an ageing potion. The twins seemed to think that as well before a loud explosion frightened everyone in the room and set Fred and George thrown back hitting the floor with a dull thud.
The twins sat up revealing to everyone their usual orange hair had turned grey and they both had long white beards like Dumbledore's. They took one look at each other before wrestling on the floor before Dumbledore recommended they both head to Madame Pomfrey to get beards removed.
"Madame Pomfrey is already tending to Miss Fawcett of Ravenclaw and Mr Summers of Hufflepuff, both of whom decided to age themselves up a little as well." Dumbledore chuckled. "Though I must say neither of their beards was as fine as yours."
The twins left the Great Hall with their friend Lee laughing maniacally behind them. The whole situation was incredibly funny.
The Great Hall quickly fell quiet as Viktor Krum entered the room with some of his fellow Durmstrang students behind him. He placed the piece of paper with his name in the Goblet and almost marched back out of the room.
"You think you have a chance, Cedric?" Sadie asked him quietly. Marquis was walking with them to the Great Hall. The whole situation with Cedric and Marquis was still causing problems in the group. However, Marquis was currently walking with Max and Alexander in front of them while Thea walked with Cedric and Sadie.
"Maybe. I hope I will. It sounds like an amazing experience."
"What do you think, Thea?" Sadie asked.
"I think he is going to get it. He's the best one suited for the Hogwarts champion. But I don't think he is going to win."
"Thanks, Thea. You are one to support her brother aren't you?"
The Great Hall was quiet, everyone watching Dumbledore as he stood beside the Goblet, announcing that in just a few moments it would begin to offer the names of the selected champions. While everyone waited, Dumbledore also explained that the people who would be selected would walk over to the chamber behind the hall to await further instruction. The Goblet suddenly seemed to come to life and began making several noises.
Dumbledore walked closer to the Goblet as it transformed from a blue flame to red. The Goblet then spat out a slightly burnt piece of paper.
"The champion for Durmstrang is.....Viktor Krum!" Dumbledore bellowed. The Durmstrang students stood up and started to yell excitedly clapping Viktor on the back as he walked past to make his way to the front.
"The champion for Beauxbatons is.....Fleur Delacour!"
The Beauxbatons students cheered but remained sitting as the tall, fair, blonde girl made her way to the front gracefully. What was it with the Beauxbatons students being so graceful.
The Hogwarts champion is....." All of the Hogwarts students sat forward in their seats as Dumbledore announced the Hogwarts champion.
"Cedric Diggory!"
Thea rose to her feet and began clapping and cheering as well as most of the Hufflepuff students.
"Go, Cedric!"
Thea turned to Marquis who was standing beside her and more surprisingly was clapping with a huge smile on his face. It looked like everything was fixed, finally.
"Good luck to all our champions. I'm sure I can count upon all of you to give your champions every bit of support you have."
The Great Hall exploded with cheering and shouting before the Goblet flickered and became red again. Another piece of paper flew out and Dumbledore quickly grabbed it. The hall was silent, faces confused as Dumbledore called the name out. Everyone was shocked including Dumbledore. He almost couldn't believe it as he uttered the name.
"Harry Potter."
