Thea held the lamp high above her hand, she had grabbed it quickly pulling the cord right out of the wall.
"Don't step any closer or I will hit you will this lamp," Thea shouted, all nerves disappearing from her voice, adrenaline coursing through her veins.
Professor Lupin held his hands up in an almost surrender but Sirius Black just chuckled before saying, "feisty one, isn't she?"
However, no one was knocked out by any lamps, antique or not because Matilda quickly intervened before a trip to St Mungo's became necessary.
"Thea. It's okay. I promise." Matilda said slowly. "You can put down the lamp if you want."
"It's fine, Matilda. I think I will keep the lamp, I don't exactly trust everyone in this room."
Matilda quickly ushered her into the kitchen but not before Thea could guide a snarky comment towards the unexpected visitors.
"The threat still stands, although we are heading into a kitchen, imagine the weapons I can quickly pick up in there."
Once Thea had followed Matilda out of the room, Remus Lupin turned to Sirius Black giving him a questioning look.
"You know, Sirius, you didn't have to call her feisty."
"I know but what else do you call that?"
Remus rolled his eyes slightly, gesturing towards the door that leads into the kitchen. "After you, Padfoot."
The two men entered the kitchen only to find that no one was there. Although they quickly found where everyone was because of the whispered argument that Thea and Matilda seemed to be having about whether or not is what socially appropriate to threaten people with lamps.
Matilda quickly finished the argument with a brief 'we will finish this later' before turning to accommodate the guests. She led them over to the couch that faced Amos and Anne whose previous expressionless faces seemed to gain some color and texture back.
"Welcome, friends." Amos croaked out while Thea stood there in shock.
"Friends? What friends? Dad, you do realize we are in the company of a murderer and a former professor of mine who did arrive with the said murderer."
"I'm aware of that, Thea," Amos said with a firmness that Thea hadn't expected particularly considering he wasn't even looking at her. Apparently, the wall behind her was very interesting. "All I ask is that you will hear all of us out in turn and not ask questions or make comments until the end."
"Fine," Thea replied crossing her arms over her chest with as much teenage angst as she could muster.
"Matilda, would you perhaps like to start explaining?" Amos managed to ask before breaking off to have a coughing fit.
"Of course." Matilda started. "So Thea basically like I said your parents have to go away for a while and I will be going with them. The last few months have taken a big toll on them emotionally and they need a little while to be able to breathe and get over the events of the past. However, because we will be quite far away, I've worked with your parents to find you a temporary home with temporary guardians until we return. Molly and Arthur Weasley were more than welcoming but they already have enough things to worry about which leads to why Remus and Sirius are here."
Matilda paused for a second but Thea didn't give her the satisfaction of continuing.
"So you are just going to drop me off with a murderer, seems reasonable. I knew you don't care about me, mum and dad but this is low even for you. As for your mental state has anyone even given a thought to mine. I lost a brother too, you know! I have no friends, my life consists of me going to classes, hiding in my spot in the castle, doing homework or teaching myself spells and then sleeping that's it. I avoid people all day long, sometimes I don't speak for days. But you know that's completely normal behavior. Oh wait, no one actually cares to begin with!" Thea shouted.
Everyone in the room looked quite taken aback a few moments passed where no one said anything.
"Of course, we want the best for you, Thea." Remus started. "That's why this has been arranged. Don't think your behavior has gone unnoticed, we've all had many letters from the professors giving us updates on you and we have been very concerned."
"Although this is all touching everything." Sirius began. "I also think Thea should have everything explained to her this includes how I'm not a murderer and everything."
Eventually, everything worked out. Thea packed up all of her remaining things in the house and moved to her new house with Sirius and Remus. 12 Grimmauld Place was quite a dreary place however after a few jokes about the decapitated house elves and the large portrait of Walburga Black, the air between Thea and her new temporary guardians seemed to clear.
Considering it had been a Friday when Professor Sprout had found her, Thea spent the rest of the weekend at Grimmauld Place, getting to know the place and Remus and Sirius better. As well as learning of the Order of Phoenix and its history, she had only known about it for a few minutes before she had already expressed her interest to be a part of it.
"Well, if you are sure, Thea. I mean you are near to age but I promise that when the time comes I'll make sure you are a part of it all." Sirius promised.
It was pretty amazing to see how quickly Thea had settled in at Grimmauld and how quickly she seemed to trust Remus and Sirius particularly after threatening them with a lamp not 48 hours earlier. The two men had been completely shocked by this themselves but had put it down to the mourning of her brother, living in his shadow her entire life and her parent's complete mental breakdown.
However, Sunday night arrived too quickly and Thea was expected to return to Hogwarts for the week ahead. She wasn't looking forward to it, particularly the questions that would be asked about where she had been the entire weekend but with encouragement from Remus and Sirius, they convinced her that she could do it. They also promised her that one of them would pick her up on the 17th of December, one day before the Christmas holidays actually started.
Saying goodbye to them both quickly and thanking them for a great weekend, Thea was being whisked back to Hogwarts in no time, glad to find Professor Sprout waiting for her.
"Have a good time?"
"I did, Professor, thanks." Thea smiled feeling a truly genuine smile on her face.
