Thea's eyes remained closed as she stayed unconscious for several days after her accident. It had gotten to the point where everyone wasn't even sure if her eyes would open ever again. The cuts she had sustained throughout her torture, had healed with the help of Molly Weasley, however, it was a mental battle that Thea would have to overcome first.
It would be so easy just to give up, let her eyes slide up into her head, let her heart slowly fail her but the words from Cedric stayed in her mind.
"Don't give up."
So as Thea's eyes remained closed, she overcame her mental demons feeling herself step away from the brink of insanity it would be so easy to fall back into.
But eventually, after a few long and exhausting days, they opened again.
The first thing she noticed was that she wasn't in the dark, dank room where she had last closed her eyes as the pain had ripped through her. She was in a bed, with the window bare of curtains letting natural light into the room, it did take a little while for her to work out where she was but eventually, her foggy mind worked it out.
She was in the spare bed in the spare bedroom of the Lupin household. She tried to pick herself up slightly as her eyes swept across the room again, trying to work out where everyone else was but the sudden movement from the bed startled the person who sat beside her, just out of Thea's vision.
Eventually, Thea's eyes settled on the red-haired person who sat beside her, a book clutched in his hands.
"You're awake." Fred Weasley said observing Thea as she gently pushed herself so she was sitting up against the headboard, the pillows helping her to stay up.
"That I am."
"It was getting to a point that we thought you would never wake up."
"Well, I'm awake now, aren't I?"
"I thought we had already established that," Fred said with a slight chuckle.
"That we did. So how long was I out?"
"Three, long and hard days of waiting for you to wake up again. Speaking of which, how do you feel?"
"Like I almost died," Thea said ruefully that quickly sent both of them into stitches.
"Well, I don't think anyone will be complaining now that you are awake again," Fred said. "I think everyone was thinking that you would go insane from all the torture. But do you think you feel any more insane?"
"No more than what I was when I was born," Thea said. "But anyway what happened while I was out?"
"Well, firstly everyone knows and they've all been extremely worried. So it will be a big relief when everyone sees you awake."
"Not to be rude or anything but why are you here? I thought you would be at the shop."
"Elliot set up a roster for there to always be someone by your bedside so if you did wake up you would have someone to wake up to."
"Elliot?" Thea asked excitedly looking around. "Is he here?"
"He is downstairs, worrying as usual with George. Those two have worried so much about you, so much so that they have come worry buddies together."
"Worry buddies?" Thea asked with a chuckle.
"Yeah, worry buddies. You know when you become good friends because you have been worrying together. That's what Elliot and George are now. Worry buddies." Fred said, looking a little too happy with himself.
"Fred Weasley, I'm now starting to worry that you are the insane one here."
Thea had a multitude of visitors after the news had got out that she was awake again. Most of the visitors came bearing flowers and gifts and it didn't take long for the bedside table beside Thea to be so covered in gifts and bunches and flowers that you could barely see the surface at all.
However, it wasn't all fun and games as they were still very much in the midst of a war. The latest bad news was that the Weasley had been forced out of their home. Ron had left Hermione and Harry and had left to Shell Cottage where Bill and Fleur lived. But it didn't take long for the Death Eaters to work out that it wasn't, in fact, Ron recovering from Spattergroit in the Burrow and it had left the Burrow unsafe. The Weasley family was forced to get out as soon as possible to avoid a home invasion sent on them. Even Fred and George were forced out of their flat above the shop. They were known conspirators so they had gone to their Aunt Muriel's with the rest of the family.
Eventually, Ron had headed back to the group but the damage was already done. They hadn't been able to get much information on the condition of the three but it seemed like they had been mostly successful in their mission so far.
It only seemed to be another reminder that the war would be ending soon and Thea knew that it wouldn't be a peaceful ending, a hard battle would need to be fought first where who knows how many lives would be lost.
But Thea was ready to make the Dark Lord and his little entourage pay for everything they had done to her family and so many other families like hers.
