Terra pulled her tank top down a bit as she looked in the mirror, waiting for a knock on her door. When it finally came, she opened it and smiled at Jessie's frilly bathing suit and colorful towels. "I thought you would wear something we could get real sun in. It'll be good for you, you know." Jessie eyed Terra's casual outfit, but Terra just shrugged.
"I don't have a swimsuit, besides this will work to get some sun. It isn't that hot out." Her argument seemed to work, as Jessie turned out of her doorway and lead her down the hall. Terra was able to keep herself steady, and she didn't need the medicine they had given her to keep the sickness down. Jessie had insisted they go outside but Terra suspected the girl just needed to relax a bit.
A young girl, no older than ten, came around the corner at the end of the hall and nearly slammed right into Jessie. "Ah, I'm sorry," the girl said quickly. Her face flushed as she darted around Jessie and Terra, offering a short nod of a greeting to the newcomer. Just as quickly as the girl arrived, she disappeared. She was shortly followed by a somewhat younger boy who almost made the same mistake as he came around the corner.
"Hey! Have you seen my sister?" he asked, glancing around them. He drew in a long breath and released it in a slur of words. "I mean I can smell her scent over here, but I smell you too, and now I can't smell he,r and I don't know where she's gone, and it's her turn to help with the dishes 'cause Jrasic said so, and I can't find her, and I think she's avoiding me."
Jessie glanced behind her and shrugged. "Well if Jrasic said that, then she went to the right. If you're avoiding responsibilities, she went to the left." She gave him a grin and pulled Terra forward.
"Unless everyone wears really strong perfume, I'm guessing that's a wolf thing?" Terra gave a short but nervous laugh.
As they exited the Manor and out to the grass, Jessie spread out their towels and nodded. "I promise you'll get used to it. I was in the same spot you're in barely a year ago." All around them others were out in the yard. Some of the younger ones were playing, others were just enjoy the sun, and a few seemed to be training with both fists and knives. Jessie kept her gaze on a couple, lingering her sights on the guy with a faint smile. "It isn't all bad here."
Terra laid down on the blanket Jessie had set and closed her eyes against the sun. "So how long until I'm a fluffy dog then?" She tried to keep the concern out of her voice, but she figured the other girl would catch it easily.
Jessie sighed beside her. "About two weeks. You won't even have to think about calendars when you know the moon's cycle. If you're wondering why I have confidence that you'll be fine, I don't have much of an answer. Maybe it's because of who your Sire is, but I think you're just strong enough in general."
Terra huffed and put her arms behind her head to enjoy the sun. "Well, thanks for your faith at least. Perhaps I'm just that stubborn." Terra turned her head momentarily and both girls smiled at each other, though Jessie's smile was much wider. They both relaxed under the warmth of the sun, accompanied by an occasional cool breeze, keeping many of the residents of the Manor in the yard.
