Wolves were already gathering outside, although the moon had just exposed itself above the forest's canopy. Jrasic leaned against his windowsill, watching them silently. His shirt lay discarded on his bed as he started to unwind the bandage that compressed his chest.
Terra left her room in silence and alone, having sent her friends ahead of her. She stopped outside Jrasic's room and went to knock, but hesitated with a long sigh. She placed her forehead against his door, taking in his scent from behind it. She wasn't sure if she had been avoiding him, or if it was the other way around.
Having removed the first layer, Jrasic flicked his gaze to his door at Terra's scent. Frowning to himself, he set the wad of bandages onto his bedside table. "You can come in, if you wish," he said softly, knowing she would hear.
Terra sighed before she pushed the door open, letting it shut softly when she had slipped in. "I know what you're going to say," she started. "But if I hadn't stepped in you would have..." Terra trailed off and let out an angry huff.
"Aaron wouldn't have killed me." Jrasic looked up from the remaining layer of bandage around his torso, giving up on trying to peel the tape free. "He wouldn't have carried it through. No matter what the match called for."
"Well it didn't look like that to me." Terra moved toward him and her hands went to the bandages, working at them until they came loose. "I didn't want you or Jessie to be hurt further." Stepping away, Terra crossed her arms over her chest.
Jrasic took up the bandages again though just watched Terra instead. "It's over now regardless," he muttered and half turned away from her as he unwound the bandage. "And now he's Beta." Jrasic balled the bandage up, leaving the healing wound exposed.
Terra let out a small growl and turned her attention to the window and gathering pack. "Something needs to be done, or all of these wolves are going to end up dead." She didn't look back at Jrasic, but her arms fell to her sides. "You should be Beta, but Sonya wouldn't have let it last either way."
"If Aaron taking over didn't work, she would have found a different way." Jrasic stared at the wad in his hands, a distant look in his eyes. "I wasn't cut out to be a Beta anyway. Sonya made the Alpha position feared. It's the only reason why my Beta position was accepting." He set the wad down on the side table.
Terra turned toward him finally. "Well I'm glad I stepped in, and I would do it again. It's better to have you here than dead or horribly wounded." With a glance toward the window, she gave a small shake of her head. "I'm not running with them."
"Now is not the time to start defying the pack," Jrasic said. He turned to her almost urgently. "Aaron is more than just Beta of this pack. He's an Alpha of his own. This alliance, and making him Beta, ties his pack and Sonya's even closer. It's a dangerous time."
Terra moved past him toward the door. "It doesn't matter, I won't follow that. Others agree with me," she told him softly.
"'Others'?" Jrasic reclaimed his shirt from the bed though kept his gaze on Terra. "Agree with what, exactly?"
