Everyone seemed to go off on their own after breakfast. Lynea was the last one left in the kitchen, washing the used dishes. She watched Wren from the little window above the sink that overlooked the backyard. The little golden wolf had his haunches raised and he suddenly pounced forward and out of view, making her chuckle in amusement.

Terra's footsteps were heavy as she made her way downstairs, her scent filling the bottom floor to announce her presence. She had her hair down and brushed, and though her sweater was nice, it was a heavy fabric intended mostly for warmth. It was obvious she'd put effort into looking well kept, but as she sank against the wall near Lynea, she looked and felt like death.

"Is there coffee left?" she asked in a hoarse voice, having missed breakfast while attempting to sleep.

Lynea just threw one glance at her from over her shoulder and frowned. "Don't think tea would do better?"

Terra covered her mouth with her sleeve and hacked into it. "I guess," she muttered. "I've never been a big tea person."

Lynea abandoned the sink for the coffee pot and poured a cup anyway. "Well, caffeine never hurts either, right?" She brought the cup to Terra, simply holding it out to her.

"Thanks," Terra said as she took it. She lifted an apple from its basket and took a small bite, trying desperately to eat at least something. "I look awful, don't I?" she asked Lynea with a sigh.

"You look like hell," Lynea said and looked the Alpha over. "Honestly, I'd keep you in bed all day if I could. You look like you haven't slept in months."

"Fantastic," she muttered. Terra sat her mug down and rubbed at her eyes. "Unfortunately, Jake already left to pick up the Hunter."

Lynea's face fell and she turned away, returning to the sink. "So they're really coming here..."

"Yes," Terra said her voice soft but strong. "I know how you feel, but this is the right decision." She moved to Lynea's side and put a hand on her arm. "Please support me on this. If we have enough discourse in the pack...it could end badly. This alliance is so precarious."

"I don't want them near Wren," Lynea said and faced Terra again. "I don't even like the idea of them being in this cabin. But...I'll go along with it, so long as they stay away from Wren."

Terra lifted her arm away and into the air. "Alright. They won't get to him."

With a soft sigh, Lynea tried a small smile. "I know you're just doing what you think is best."

"If I'm wrong, I think we'll know fairly quickly."

Jessie's scent flooded down the stairs and her footsteps followed as she turned into the kitchen. She scowled at the sight of Terra. "Did you rest yesterday?"

"As much as I could," Terra told her with a half smile. "Is she alright?"

Jessie sighed and went to a cabinet. "Brit was sick again, but it seems like it's almost run its course." She pulled out a bottle of aspirin and handed two to Terra.
