With the rain still pounding through the trees, Terra pushed her hood further over her face, and her hair tucked underneath. The sun barely pushed through the clouds for light, though it had begun to sink for the day already. "How far can you get with all of this rain?" She asked Jrasic.

"I've mostly lost it already," Jake said from behind her.

"It's faint," Jrasic said and wandered a little ahead, carefully picking his way. "But it's definitely still here."

"As long as we get far enough," Terra muttered. Her shoe stuck in the mud a moment and she sighed heavily.

Jake put a hand on her shoulder and stepped to her side. "You'll be fine," he murmured.

Terra flashed him a smile and pushed forward again. "I know, you wouldn't let me go otherwise."

Jrasic hardly glanced back at them and parted the brush, stepping through it. It opened to a gravel path that cut clear through the forest, easily winding around trees. He walked out to the center and paused there, looking up and down the path as he scented the air.

Terra stood beside him and took a deep breath to try and catch the scent, but the wolves around her covered everything else.

"Her scent ends here," Jrasic said. "It meets with Aaron's but..." He shook his head and looked down the path.

"She was heading down this way then," Jake said. He looked along the path and frowned in thought.

Terra straightened and tapped Jrasic's arm. "There are a couple motels down this way. She may have been staying in one of them."

"So she wasn't from here," Jake said. "That makes a bit more sense."

"Or at least explains why she thought wandering the forest alone was a good idea," Jrasic said and started down the path toward the small village-like area.

Jake shook his head and dodged a puddle. "Aaron would have gotten to her anyways."

"The only other way is a busy road," Terra said. "This is one of few paths there. Probably the safest, really."

"Apparently not as safe." Jrasic scanned their surroundings as they entered the populated area, drawing slow breaths. "I can't pick up too much here. Not with as many buildings." He halted and held his gaze on a truck parked at the curb. The driver's door popped open and a man stepped out, a black hood drawn far over his head.

"Glad we went today," Jake said in a hushed voice. He watched the man and hung back, a hand going out to Terra.

She sent him a short glance and looked back at the Hunter. "Now we follow, then."

Jrasic looked after the Hunter as he approached the nearest motel, a hand casually rested on the bag slung on his shoulder. "This is when you go in alone," Jrasic muttered. "They'll recognize Jake and I."
