Sixty-Four

It was all smooth sailing for the past few months, they would bicker about small things like food or mess but nothing major. Shawn's family were extremely happy for Shawn and his friends loved having Athena around.

Where as for Athena it was harder for her but she would avoid everything with her work and with Shawn. Her mum last called her a month ago and her brothers would occasionally text her but nothing from her dad but her mum told her that he was 'busy.

Her friends had no time for her, busy with their own lives. At first Athena understood this but when they began cancelling every plan she stopped trying. All the people she would consider friends, Camille, Lilly, Savannah, Hannah and the guys, none of them really made an effort apart from Lilly and Athena didn't want to admit this but it hurt her.

She even missed Myles and it filled her with guilt knowing he loved her and she completely avoided him, she didn't have the guts to face him. 

She was in bed looking down at her phone hovering her thumb over the call button. Shawn jumps beside her in bed and she turns her phone off putting it the side.

"You okay gorgeous?" He pecks her cheek. "Yeah just tired" she nods lying down pulling the covers over her arm. "The album is coming out in two days" Shawn says.

"Are you nervous?" She asks him facing his way. "Yeah, what if no one likes it"

"Everyone will love it, I haven't heard all the songs but I can't wait. You should be happy" Athena kisses his lips gently resting her head on his pillow.

"I'm nervous for you to hear the songs" Shawn admits, there was a definitely a song that was so obviously about her. "I'm excited and anyone with ears knows how amazing you are"

"You're amazing" he kisses her forehead. "Go to sleep now, you have press tomorrow" she tells him nuzzling up to his body. "Good night love" he kisses the top of her head.

Shawn had already left at around seven and Athena had just gotten up deciding to take work from home today. She did all her regular morning stuff then sat outside looking down at her phone.

She breathes in deeply then clicks the call button.

"Athena?" The voice calls.

"Hi Myles" her voice was so gentle.

"Athena are you okay?" He asks, oh how he wishes he could see her.

"I'm fine" she nods. "How are you?" She asks him.

"I'm good"

"I miss you" they both say at the same time then laugh. "Myles I miss you as my friend I really do" she sniffles.

"I miss you thena, I'm sure Camille has told you but I have asked about you. How's Shawn?"

"Camille hasn't spoken to me for a while and Shawn is great" she wipes her tear feeling consumed with emotion.

"Does he treat you right? Because if he doesn't I won't hesitate to punch him" Athena chuckles lightly "he does, I love him"

Myles' heart breaks but he feels happy knowing she's happy.

"I'm happy for you thena" she lets out a cry then tries to hide it by coughing. "Smiles I'm really sorry" she weeps.

"Why?" He asks. "I'm really sorry"

"Thena we should talk face to face and I'm in work right now" he sighs. "Oh sorry to disturb you" she hiccups.

"No no it's okay, I'll call you later" he ends the call and Athena puts her phone down and all this sadness she's built up is let out by a cry. She pulls her knees up to her chest and cries.

"Hello love" Shawn picks her up from behind and twirls her around. "Hi babe" she giggles as he lets her down.

He twirls her around and cups her cheeks. "How was today?" She asks.

"Wait have you been crying? Athena what happened?" He holds her face in his hands making her look up. "I'm fine Shawn, tell me about your day" she says wiping her eyes but for some reason when she meets eyes with Shawn she begins crying.

"Let go off me" she mumbles wiping her face. "Babe tell me what happened" his voice softens. "Shawn please let me go" he puts his hands down and she walks off to the bathroom leavings Shawn completely clueless.

Shawn looks around confused, he hears her phone ringing from the living room. Making his way there he picks it up seeing Myles calling her but it ends. He calls again but Shawn hesitated to answer when he sees Athena walk back in.

"What are you doing?" She asks, her eyes slightly red and puffy. "Your phone" he hands her phone back and she looks down seeing Myles called her.

"Why was Myles calling?" Shawn asks stepping closer to her. She looks up at him gulping "I called him" she admits. "Why?"

"I just, Shawn p-please don't get mad" she whispers clutching on to his hand. "As long as there's nothing to be mad about won't" Shawn says now filled with nerves.

"I called him to tell him I miss him" she whimpers trying not to cry. "Why do you miss him?" He asks. She looks away wiping her eyes.

"I just do, I miss all my friends"

"So why couldn't you have called Camille or Lilly?"

"They rarely answer and that's all I said to him. I told him I miss him being my friend"

Shawn runs a hand through his hair taking his hand back. "But he loves you!" He says louder than expected. "He fucking loves you and you told him you miss him? Is this why you're crying?" He spits.

"Shawn please don't" she sniffles. "That's all I said, I just want my friend my back"

"And I'm not enough?" Shawn asks stepping back. "You are. Shawn you're my boyfriend but I need my friends and family like you do"

"But I'm here for you, they haven't made an effort with you and you're crying over them" Shawn shouts making her jump.

"Stop" she whispers. "You told a man who loves you that you miss him!" He spits. Athena turns around walking to the bathroom locking it, trying her best to cry quietly as Shawn paced in the living room.

He groans hearing her phone ring again seeing it's Myles he answers out of rage. "Fucking leave her alone" he spits then ends the call throwing her phone on the sofa.
