December 1st
"I can't wait till it snows Joshy!"
"So you're waiting for hell to come upon us?!" I laughed and sipped my hot chocolate. We were inside a café having a "date". My mom was supervising from afar. Dad would've done this but he had to work today..
"It's cold enough, we don't need to add snow to the mixture."
"But Joshy! That means Christmas is near. It isn't a true New York Christmas without the snow you know."
"True. But it makes it so hard to get around the place."
"I guess so. I wanna say something but my mom is staring me down."
"Text me it."
"I'll do that later, but are what are you doing for Christmas?"
"I think we're staying in New York this year."
"I hope so. I was going to invite you to my house."
"Ohh, cool. I'll ask my parents what the plan is for Christmas then."
******
After the "date"
Mama put her arm around me as we left the café.
"Did ya have fun?"
"Yeah. But you were staring me down a lot Mama." She laughed and ruffled my hair.
"Sorry honey, I was just being over protective."
"It's okay."
"I wanna take you to the store. They have the most cutest dresses. Maybe you could get one for the winter dance?"
"Why not? Do they have dresses in grey and blue?"
"Yep."
"Alright I'll check it out." I could tell she was getting super excited by the way she was driving.
"Slow down Mama."
"I'm just so excited to be going dress shopping for a dance with my little girl."
"Aww Mama!" She made a turn and then parked the car and I got out.
"Alright, let's find the dress of your dreams girlie." We went in the store and a lady greeted us.
"How May I help you today?"
"We're looking for a dress for my daughters winter dance."
"Formal or Semi formal?"
"Formal."
"There's some amazing dresses right over here.."
"Maybe you should try that blue one on Allie."
"Sure." I wasn't really feeling it but I tried it on for my mom's sake. I came out of the dressing room and I wasn't really feeling this blue dress! It was a bit too glittery for me if you know what I mean and it was a bit to short for my liking.
"Ehh."
"Same, not really my favorite."
"How about we try on a few more?" We were there for what seemed like forever and I just couldn't find a dress that was amazing in every which way but then the lady came out with this dress and it was gorgeous! It was a peachy or tan kind of color with gold sparkles. Really simple but I loved it!
"Can I try it on?"
"Of course." I went into the dressing room and it slid on so easily.
"I love this!" I whispered. I came out and Mommy looked like she was fully ready to cry.
"This is the one! It looks so adorable on you!" I did a full three sixty spin. I just loved this dress.

"Just wait until your father sees this!"****"You look stunning sweetheart! I can't wait to get home and see it in person

"Just wait until your father sees this!"
****
"You look stunning sweetheart! I can't wait to get home and see it in person." All Of us kids were sitting in front of the computer face timing daddy.
"Daddy, so you'll be here the night of my dance?"
"Yes honey."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
"Daddy, and I have my Daddy Daughter dance." Amaya said.
"I'll go to that too. Anything else? It seems like I'm getting everything thrown at me all at once."
"Look at dad, he's genuinely stressed out about this." We all laughed at August's comment and then I left the room to go change.
"This elevator is so slow sometimes." I stepped in and went back up to the fourth floor.
"I need to take a little break." I took the dress off and put it back neatly into my closet. After that I changed back into my pjs and sat onto my bed. I had some homework so I decided to get that out of the way.
"This is really easy. I'll just finish this now so I could be done."
"Honey, Daddy wants to tell you good night."
"Oh, okay."
"Good night my love bug."
"Night Daddy. I love you."
"I love you so much honey. I have something for you when I get back."
"Ohh, Thank you."
"Alright bye honey."
"Bye daddy!" He hung up and Mama sat on my bed with me.
"Allie?"
"Yeah?"
"Why do you look so scared to talk to Peter?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You didn't reply the way you'd usually would. Is everything alright between you guys?"
"Yeah we talked about everything. Just, I dunno."
"You don't know what? What's on your mind Allie? Don't let it get you upset, please. Just tell me while I'm here."
***
"Allie did you do that report we had?"
"We had a report?"
"Yeah. Did you turn it in early?"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Allie, are you alright? You never forget to do homework. Do you wanna talk about something?"
"No, it's okay Joy. Just getting old I guess haha."
"You're only 11. Just tell what's on your mind. I may not understand everything, but I'll listen to you problems." I sighed and had a splash of water.
"My mom was getting on me for the way I talk to my dad. But like she doesn't understand anything."
"Oh yeah, you guys got into a fight."
"Mhm, we talked it out but like I'm having a hard time just talking to him. I think it's just going to take some time. Like he really upset me."
"But then again, how long can you stay mad at him? This is your dad, he's always gonna be there for you no matter what happened. I hope you find a way to move on."
"I hope so too. Thanks as always Joy."
"See you don't have to thank me, I'll always be here to listen and help. That's what best friends are for."
