It's quiet. She liked quiet, it was nice sometimes. It helps her think. Sometimes it just made her crazier than she already is. For the most part, it helps with the mentality. Something was off, she could feel it. She looked at the direction of a nevermore hovering over an area, there were two people there and perhaps one might concider far too many grimm to deem normal.
" I can't just leave them, can I? No, it would immoral to watch them die...Control yourself...Now's not the time. Remember what you are.." She mummbled to herself and took a deep breath. She folded the small scarf and wrapped it around her forehead. " Here we go." She ran over to the direction of the two people.
" Ruby!" Qrow pushed her out of the way as a huge tree came crashing down. Ruby tumbled across the ground and heard a loud crash. Qrow was motionless as the tree rested on him.
" Uncle Qrow!" His arms were outstreatched as his scythe was still in his grip. She tried to move it but it was too heavy. " No. Come on!" She pounded her fist onto the bark. A roar distracted her, she turned with her scythe ready and hot tears in her eyes.
A boot found its way to the creature's face and it fell on its back. The newcomer pointed her sword at the creature, ready to fight. She slipped on her headphones and lunged forward with a roar. Working also as a shotgun, she was efficient and moved fluidly despite being unable to hear their whereabouts.
Ruby didn't want to be left out. As she protected her fallen uncle she killed a few which thretened to come any closer. The stranger that was helping had a very odd interaction with the creatures. They would attack at places that no one stood and stayed a good distance from her as though she had an army with her. Once the last grimm was gone, she pointed her weapon at Ruby with wariness in her eyes. Ruby stared at her violet eyes with silver ones and scythe ready.
" Who are you?" She asked in between breaths, almost forgetting about the injured man behind the hooded girl.
" Ruby.." Qrow groaned as clutched the snow and tried to rise. " Run..."
" No. I won't leave you." Stubborn as she was, she was prepared for a fight even though she felt a bit worn fighting off grimm.
She slowly lowered her sword and kept staring at Ruby. Ruby did the same as she sheathed her sword. Feeling a mutual sense of trust, she turned her attention to her uncle and tried to lift the tree. The girl came forward and helped her. Ruby pulled out her uncle as the girl held the tree.
" Hang on, Uncle Qrow.." The girl dropped the tree with a thud. Ruby felt so worn, she'd used a lot of energy and was in danger of fainting. Which is exactly what happened.
" How much farther is this trail going to lead us?" Weiss whined. " I thought they said there'd be an old house somewhere. Please tell me we didn't get tricked."
" And we still haven't found Qrow or Ruby." Blake said, she glanced at Yang who was awfully calm about the situation. Before, the blonde was freaking out when she couldn't see her younger sister.
" Qrow's with her, if anything, she's safe. I trust Qrow, if he says he'll find her then he will."
Oscar hadn't said a word ever since they left the train. The poor boy was so lost, he felt like a tool or a puppet that can be disposed of at any moment. If Ruby were here she'd at least say something to ease his nerves. He doesn't want to be just another life for Ozpin or Osma, or whatever he calls himself now, to live again. He wished so hard that it would just stop, that it was all just a bad dream.
" Will you all just stop it?" Maria scolded the group. " Just as before, you're all just spewing so much negativity."
" Ugh, aren't trails supposed to lead somewhere?" Yang complained as she pushed her motorbike.
" Don't you have anything better to do than harass a defenceless old lady?" Maria taunted her.
' Do you...hear that?' Ozpin finally spoke within Oscar's mind. ' So now you want to talk?' Oscar thought back. Then there was silence. Oscar grumbled as Ozpin locked himself up again. But he heard it, a melody that called him. It felt like it spoke to him, a song that he felt relatable.
" Oscar, what are you doing?" Yang asked as they were several steps away from him and all he did was stand there, staring off into a distance. " What is it?" She said moving towards him.
" Do you guys here that?" He asked them. They listened closely and a melody was playing in the air. Before they could head towards it, it stopped. They waited a bit just to make sure. Then, a new song enticed them. It spoke to Weiss this time, luring her in. They pressed onward to follow the sound. It stopped again and then it spoke to Blake. Stopping finally as they got closer and it got louder, with a song that pulled on Yang's heart. The music had called them. But from where did it even come from?
