" Veena, what are you saying?" Zea asked her as she looked out the window, there's not much time left. She needed to list her allies fast.
" This whole war is stupid. All I see is a couple having a never-ending disagreement over their first argument. Love can make you foolish. I'm not saying it's bad but as some might say, too much of anything can be bad for you. Which is why balance needs to exist in this world. There is always a reason behind every incident. Even lesssons of life can be learnt by observing a little flower." Zea sighed and smiled at her.
" Are you proposing, to make your own route to rule out the outcomes of this war? How bold." Veena gave her a gentle smile. " So it's a bit more complicated than that, isn't it?" She let out a bit of a laugh, a moment later she frowned. " But what about the others?"
" They have to decide themselves. I'm not going to force them or give them another headache. My eyes can get me pretty far."
" But what will they think of us?" Zea prompted. " I feel like we're just abandoning them."
" They'll think I went home. And we're not abandoning anyone. Like I said, I don't want to force them into this. It's best this way. If they want to come, then I'll be there to accept them." Zea raised a brow and gave her a skeptical look. Veena knelt down to one of the smaller spirits, looking at it in the eye. The spirit seem to undrstand her and turned into a small sparrow that rested in her hands. " I'll have eyes everywhere, my sparrows will be there if they need me. I didn't give it magic, I just made use of its aura."
" Then all these souls you've collected..." Zea said glancing at them.
" We...want to help.."
" I'll see my children again!"
" My beloved!" They chanted their longings as they neared her, offering their services. " If we can protect the future the humanity, that's enough for me..." Said a female huntsman as she stepped up as the head of the group. " My name is Heather, I was betrayed by the headmaster of Haven and killed."
" You're a strong one, like Summer. What are you doing all the way out here? Your daughter," Zea stopped as the sad smile emerged on her face. " I see, you want to be able to protect her too." The soul nodded without saying another word.
" So, you all agree to be my sparrows? Alright, I'll think this through but please be patient." They started to wander about again as Veena left the room with Zea following her closely. " Let's see how we can calm them down today." The room was filled with a bit of idle chatter, just what she needed to take her mind off things.
" Hey, you feeling okay?" Ruby asked her. " Weiss said you'd be joining us."
" And here I am, " Veena took a seat as the others looked up at her momentarily to smile at her. " I believe I should thank you all for helping these past few days. With my memory and all." She said gesturing to herself.
" It's nothing. Really, we never guessed." Veena laughed and gave Jaune an amused smile.
" Well, I still have to repay you. How about a story of my past life?" Veena suggested. " Don't worry, I'll only tell the good ones with happy endings. Take your pick."
" Natrah? I heard she's a fighter." Blake suggested.
" Maybe Aris, so far his memories are nice." Ren said.
" Ooh, I got it. The blacksmith guy! We barely hear anything about him, not even Weiss knows that much." Nora said in a loud voice. It was reviving to hear her energetic voice.
" Yasa. His name was Yasa. Alright then, which one do I tell you...Right, so the title of tonight's story is the Nightingale and the Sparrow. There was once a lonely sparrow who could weave anything from the finest steel to the shiniest of gold. One day the sparrow thought 'Alas, I create all these things but what for? To whom shall I grant my best work?' Then came a beautiful nightingale with piercing eyes, she sang a few sad notes before sighing. The sparrow fell in love with her lovely voice and asked her 'Miss Nightingale, what brings you to sing such a sad song with your beautiful voice?' "
" To which she answered, 'I am sad, the other creatures call me ugly. They say even if I have such a lovely voice, it is unmatched with my ugly grey feathers.' The sparrow laughed and the nightingale became confused. 'What's so funny?' She asked. 'You think I'm ugly, don't you?' And she was about to cry until she saw the kind smile he gave her. 'My dear,' he said in a gentle tone. 'What does it matter if they say so, your voice is a gift, you must learn to use it to your extent.', 'Do you truly think so?'. With his feathers he wiped her tears. 'I know so. But if you truly want me to help you then return in three days and bring me a rose, a snowflake, a golden string and a whisker of a black cat.' So she did and in three days returned with the said items. 'What are they for?' She asked."
" The sparrow told her to close her eyes and when she opened them again, she was wearing a beautiful necklace that shone in the moonlight and it made her feel safe and calm. 'This is beautiful!' She told him. 'I cannot take it.' The sparrow shook his head and asked her, 'Do you see the gifts you've brought me?' She shook her head in surprise as the gifts she brought were gone. Then she finally realised that the necklace she wore were made from them. The petals formed a locket with the snowflake at the centre, the whisker held them together as the golden string complimented it."
" 'The rose is beautiful and gentle but it has thorns to remind that one is not to be underestimated, the snowflake is unique for there is none like it, no two snowflakes are the same. The wisker is the most sensitive part of the cat to help it sense the things around, dedpite looking decorative they are very valuble. The golden string is beautiful but it is also strong and is best when combined with the right elements. Now my dear, do you see the value in who you are?' The nightingale smiled and said 'I do now and to repay you, I shall sing you the most beautiful song.' The nightingale sang into the night with the most adoring melodies. The song that tells of beauty and acceptance. The sparrow and the nightingale became good friends after that and met every night to sing together. The end."
