" So, uh, guess introductions first. I'm Sun, and it looks like I'm the leader. I already met Yang and I guess I've heard of you. Reese, right? From the last Vytal Festival. Nice to meet you." Sun extended his hand and she shook it.
" I've heard about you two. Pretty cool reputation." She said looking at Sun and Yang. " But I've only heard a lot about you're team rather than you, the team VLOR's leader, Veena." She smiled gently as she listened to their conversation. " Won't you give us a little bit more info about yourself, prodigy kid? I mean, that's what I heard, despite that you're..."
" I'm not really blind." She lifted her binds a little and covered them again. " My semblance, is a bit difficult to control. Covering them helps keep it down for me. I see everything, the truth, the dead and basically whatever the human eye couldn't see."
" Woah, like ghosts and stuff?" Sun asked and Veena smiled.
" Yes, Sun. Like ghosts and stuff. Now then, how about our fight plan?" Yang said with a smile as she pounded her fists together. " We got ourselves a pretty kick ass team. That guy from that Blackbirds group could be trouble though."
" It's simple. Make sure Oxton's eyes stay on me." Veena said to them as they gave her a puzzled look. " We know each other, more or less and I know what his semblance is. Just focus on the others while I take him. Prying into someone's mind can be a major offence to privacy. I want to see if he has the guts to pull it off on me." Yang smirked as she understood while the other two were just confused.
" So you're saying we should focus our fire on eliminating the blind girl first?" Brawnz asked him as his electric blue eyes skimmed over the arena and back at his temporary team.
" She may not seem much but she's more like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Basically, I'll use my semblance to distract her. Mind linking would give me a glimpse of some stuff I could use against her. Some sort of weakness, she's gotta have one. So I'll be checking in on her most....'notorious' moments." Ren knew what he meant, he was going to look through memories of Natrah. It could be dangerous regarding her most dangerous life but among her strongest as well. Her weakness has got to be there. " Just get me clear enough to trigger in a way we can strike."
Hazel watched from afar, being more alert than usual since the last time they encountered that girl. He needed more information on her and who she is. But as fate had it, Aswad had just arrived to see his sister. He was in the same ship as Winter and quite the reception was waiting for him. It's difficult to process the situation when four of his siblings tackled him at once and demanded an explanation for his disappearance and for Veena's involvement in it. He could almost hear his younger sister apologising for the information leak. Winter watched them and hummed to herself, they were a foolish bunch. Then she noticed a strange pattern. There are six siblings, one half with violet eyes and the other half was dark blue. The children born in order odd numbers, the first, third and fifth, had violet eyes. While the children with even numbers, the second, fourth and youngest, had dark blue eyes. She found this amusing and sensed a strange connection between them. Like a symbolism.
" How's our mother?" Aswad asked them once they were less hostile.
" She's fine but had been worried sick for both of you. When Veena was gone, she was so...empty." Jan told him. " We've held our own and the moment we saw her on TV, we came as soon as possible. Mum and Dad are coming too, in a few days maybe." Aswad smiled and it was quiet again. " It's funny how you left for so long and now you're a soldier. Avi barely remembers you."
" Yeah," The youngest agreed. " I had weird dreams about you too. They're more happier when I sleep with Bulat." He almost froze.
" Who?"
" Our cat." Kyga explained.
" Oh, what about my-"
" Gone." He said quickly. " We had and lost a few cats." He opened his mouth but was interrupted. " Cherry went missing, Diva died, Gangsta disappeared as well as Agress, Tim, Moon, Al, Coconut and Vest. Bulat was our latest cat."
" That's...a lot of cats. I presume it was over the years. So Mr. Socks is gone, maybe I should've took him with me....I'm joking!" He said defensively as Jan cracked her knuckles, she was the strongest among them after all.
" You know," Jan began. " You haven't asked about Father." He was silent. Avi looked away, she remembered the day he ran. He ran for a reason. " He's not the same man as before. And he's still your father. He's changed now, ever since you left. Even more so when Veena went MIA."
" ....How so?" His tone wasn't as cheerful as before. " In what way did he change after I left." Harley looked at him in the eye briefly, violet eyes locked at each other for a moments worth before she looked away. She knew more than anyone how he felt.
" That's enough, brother." She said placing a hand on his shoulder. " Act your age, you've been gone for more than a decade. So you don't have the right to say shit. We do, because we were the ones who still lived with him after you left us. After you left Mom. No more grudges, Aswad. It's time to let go." Harley knows it's difficult for him as it was for her. Among the fated connections they had other than the eyes was the emptiness in their eyes that all three of them had shared. She confirmed it with her younger sister when they met at the food stall. These violet eyes had wonder and more wisdom but also an emptiness that she understood.
