Chapter 60

Liam took his usual route, walking leisurely but carefully as to avoid any pickpocketing, this was still Vacuo after all. He needed to think, team ZLVR had run off with team RWBY just last night to fight a being that's quite literally immortal. He stayed with his team leader as he always did, debts are to be paid after all. She promised to pull them if anything goes wrong, with the Atlisian army on their side, they should be fine. He slowed down a bit as he noticed something odd, he must've taken the wrong turn as he was now walking down an alley instead of the populated streets.

" Hey," The exit would've been just a little more ahead of him. " Remember me, Liam?" He rolled his eyes at the so called assassin before him, that annoying voice was ticking him off already. " Now don't look at me like that, I mean, you should play it nice since Veena isn't here to protect you." Liam took position calmly and beckoned the assassin to attack.

Mercury rushed at him with a kick which was countered by Liam's fluid kicks and hits. He was able to manipulate Mercury's movements and hit him and pinpoints faster than the assassin has ever seen. Emerald fired and he blocked it with his wing as he jumped back. They stood side by side as they watched him, he seemed to be in some sort of trance. Moving in a way that was almost dance-like. This wasn't Firefly fighting style like they'd expect. They wouldn't recognise silat. He unvieled an old looking wavy bladed dagger. He dodged a fire ball behind him and was clearly surprised to see who it was. He held his blade steady, eyes shifting to the rooftops. He saw bodies of birds either burnt or shot.

" Liam, was it? We need to talk. At our place." The amber eyed girl said to him. He needed to be careful, the Fall Maiden is no joke and the two teenagers with him, they would've been settled if she hadn't showed up.

Liam had been absent that day, Veena was slightly worried as he was the type not to waste any time for anything as petty as skipping class. There were bonus rounds in the arena for the night and fir the next two nights as well. She needed space and time to think for a bit. Just last night she had said her farewell to the little Rose and her crew. She needed to see Zea, she needed to talk.

" Vee, thank goodness you're hear." Zea practically grabbed her in. A bird with a broken wing sat on her desk. One spirit stood next to it, he smiled as soon as he saw the Sparrow but as he remembered what he was here for, his face fell and there was visible fear in his eyes. " Tell her."

" The Fall Maiden, she's here!" Veena stared at him with her eyes widened. " She's destroyed whatever avian she passed by, forced a fisherman to take her here then killed him and his crew. She's in the city as we speak," He finished.

" Liam." She muttered and immediately tried to call him.

" Hey there, 'Sparrow'." Mercury said in a mocking tone. " Quiet, huh? So, you're precious little buddy here is taking a trip to see our boss, Salem. Unless you want anything else to happen to him, I suggest you get your ass here. You know where we are, don't you? Oh, and uh, sorry for killing most of your pets. Nothing personal..." The scroll clicked and the call ended.

" Veena, what are you going to do?" Zea asked her old friend.

" Stay here, at all costs. I need you to watch over Vacuo while I'm gone. I'm taking half of what's left of the flock with him. Inform everyone immediately, half comes with me and the rest are yours. And another thing," She handed her a small notebook. " If anything happens, here are the keys. I'm going to get ready."

She left quickly before the fox faunus could say anything. She looked down onto the small notebook on her desk. What did she mean by 'keys'? A blue jay tapped onto the window. Right, she needed to send a message.

" Arthur, there's no time." She told him as she opened the window. " Tell everyone that the Sparrow has gone after the Little Rose. Half of the flock is to follow her to No Man's Land. The others, stays with me. Now, go. And one last thing, will you please, stay by my side once its all over?" She didn't know why she said so, but she felt like she was going to be alone. The blue jay nodded. Soon enough, some of team VLOR came to inform her of their intent. " I forbid it."

" But Liam needs us!" Rizzie said to her.

" I forbid it!" She raised her voice as she stood. " As your headmistress, I need to keep you safe. Please, the Sparrow will handle it. Just stay where you are and....stay safe."
