" Where on Remnant did you go? Going dark like that at times like these, just what makes you think you can act the way you do? Ozpin would've been-" Qrow slammed his fist against the wall, cutting the general.
" I don't work for him. Neither you or anyone else in his stupid circle." He grunted and crossed his arms. " I don't have to listen to your crazy talk anymore, it's not my problem." Ruby patted his arm and he sighed. " Fine. I-" He glanced at the window and sure enough, three sparrows and a dove were outside. Almost like they were watching him. " Excuse me,"
" Uh, Uncle Qrow? What are you-" He opened the window and the dove flew in first followed by the sparrows with a note on its leg.
" Isn't this primitive," He took the note and read it, glancing at the dove with a questioning look. " Tell her it's done. I'll send word, and when you get back, I wanna know how's our blackbird." The dove seemed to have nodded and flew off with the sparrows. " Right. Where were we?"
" What the heck was that?" Blake said as Weiss was processing the fact that the bird man before her actually talked to a bird.
" Okay, Qrow. Just who are you working for?" Yang asked.
" Isn't it obvious by now? I work for the Midnight Sparrow." He took a swig from his flask as the whole room stared at him with his mouth agape. " She offered."
" You're working, for Veena?" Ruby asked, still quite mind blown from this fact. Ironwood was surprised she was able to build up connections within a year or so. " How is she?" She managed to ask as she'd always wondered how her friend had been.
" Not entirely sure, she's fine for the most part but she rarely comes to see me herself. You know those birds you saw just now, they're not actual birds."
" Are you serious?" Jaune asked as he glanced out the window looking left and right. " What do you mean they're not- just, What? I don't-" He was lost for words as was almost everyone in this room.
" So the entire time we thought you were missing and worried about you, you were out on secret missions again?" Ruby said tapping into the topic. He looked down and tried to find the right words. She gave him another hug. " At least I know you're safe."
" Listen, kid- everyone. I know you have your rights to be mad at me but please, it's not just about me and more lives are at stake now. She has the sword." The absolute looks on their faces were full of disbelief. Ironwood approached him with his fists clenched. " It's in good hands, Jimmy. She doesn't even bring it around, she leaves it where it should be, in the vault. I got more important things to tell you anyway."
" How can I trust the man who turned his back on us?" Ironwood snarled as his fists shook.
" How could you trust the guy who lied to us about everything we've ever known. All the lives we lost because of this pointless war, the lives that would've been standing with us today. Where's your answer to that, James?" He spat back and judging by their faces, the children seem to almost agree if not for the simple soul to remind them otherwise.
" That's not important right now." Ruby said stepping in between them. " General, I know you want what's best for everyone but my uncle has information that we need." He backed off with a grunt and returned to his previous position. " Uncle Qrow, you were saying?" Qrow nodded to her and continued.
" As you all know, this year's Vytal Festival will be hosted by Shade Academy. Veena thinks there could some threats on the way. Don't open your mouth Jimmy, she's got it covered." He said quickly before the general could say anything. " To be honest, I'm not exactly going to be doing much soon. Her web extends in ways you can't possibly imagine."
" But from everything that happened before, I've already improved my sentinels. They'll be able to really ensure the people's safety." Qrow shrugged and told him tell the headmistress of Vacuo herself.
" Hey, uh, quick question. Just, where is Veena?" Nora asked and they were focused on Qrow once again.
" In Vacuo, guarding the sword or she could be elsewhere, with whatever she has in mind. Her position isn't entirely defined, she mostly spends her time studying grimm, or so I've been told." This meant that he was watching his back and being cautious. Questioning what he should and knowing Veena, she'd tell them anyway.
" Aside from all that, some students from Shade Academy will be here to escort students personally to their academy to avoid any form of forgery. Speaking of teams, I hope you lot behave yourselves this time. We don't want a repetition of the past." Glynda stood there with her arms crossed as the students nodded. There was sorrow in their eyes to say the least and a lot of regret but there was also determination, an aim to ensure the past does not repeat itself.
