Tansy had gone to the pier once again lying to her mother in the process.

"I want to finish this book, not much time left," Tansy said and smiled, shaking the book a little to show her mother.

Truth was she had finished reading the book. Her mother gave her a knowing sad smile and told her to be back by 7 and meet her at the Waltons.

She always carried her book with her. It was like her secret guardian. The book had served her many purposes. Like right now when she had to lie to her mother to go to the pier. She liked reading books and wanted to finish as much as she could but this book held something close to her heart and she thought she would never be able to let go of it. So she read it; again and again. The book had also saved her from Mrs. Buffett's bratty 19 year old grandson, Theodore Buffett. He was always after girls. She didn't think he'd be after her but when she'd showed him her book and told him how much of a big nerd she was. Theodore had turned away and left her alone. Almost like a 5 year old who got sick of his old toys.

"Well I'm not going to be a toy for him like all the other girls of my town," thought Tansy.

"She was more than that."

And just recently her guardian had done something unfathomable; brought her secret idol right in front of her eyes and had done something more also. Be the reason as to why they had come close to each other in the first place.

Tansy was disappointed when she could not find Emrys at the pier. She waited for sometime but there was no sign of him. She internally cursed herself for thinking that he would come again to the pier. "Why?"

She had thought that he'd want to meet her again at the pier. Just as much as she wanted to meet him too.

"Bullshit!" thought Tansy who had suddenly started hitting herself on her head with her hands.

"I don't know why I was thinking that a famous star like him would even want to meet an average girl like me."

"A first meeting would be fine since he'd consider me as one of his fans. But for a second time!"

She rubbed her hands all over her face and head, messily destroying her let down hair in frustration.

"What the heck in the world was she thinking?" she thought to herself.

She sat down at the edge of the pier and started dangling her feet in the air. Her parents thought that she came to the beach to read her books. Half of that was true. She did come to the beach to read but sometimes, she'd simply stay like this right now. Her legs swinging from the edge of the pier, her face getting sprayed by the occasional mists from the ocean and ponder. Ponder about her last remaining days and hoped she had taken the right decision to come spend her last days at the beach.

She didn't want to think about it but she had felt some sort of connection when she had meet him for the first time at the pier. She didn't know what it was. But she had both good and bad feelings about it.

Emrys had woken up at around noon and found himself going to the pier once again. He walked the short distance up to the pier. He thought he would meet her but found no one at the beach or the pier. Looked like most of the people went up to the Virginia beach located a few miles up north. He returned to eat his late brunch which Mrs. Anderson had hammered away to prepare for him. Mrs. Anderson was his maid and cook. She was in her late forties and from what she had told him, she had two boys. Her 14 year old son went to middle school and her 18 year old son had just graduated from the high school here in this town. Her husband worked as a marketing manager in Virginia but she and her son would come here at Sandbridge every now and then since she had taken up the job of one month and her 18 year old son worked a part time job as a lifeguard.
