"Potter! Weasley! Will you pay attention?" Professor McGonagall's voice travelled through the transfiguration classroom that Thursday. Rose and Hermione glanced towards the two boys. They each held a fake wand made by Fred and George. They were having a sword fight, but when Professor McGonagall shouted at them they turned to look at her.

"Now that Potter and Weasley have been kind enough to act their age, I have something to say all of you," Professor McGonagall said.

"The Yule Ball is approaching, a traditional part of the Triwizard Tournament and an opportunity for us to socialize with our foreign guests. Now, the ball will be open only to fourth years an above, although you may invite a younger student if you wish. Dress robes will be worn, and the ball will start at eight o'clock on Christmas day, finishing at midnight in the Great Hall. Now then, The Yule Ball is, of course, a chance for us all to let our hair down," Professor McGonagall said in a disapproving voice.

"But that does not mean that we will be relaxing the standards of behaviour we expect from Hogwarts Students. I will be most seriously displeased if a Gryffindor student embarrasses the school in any way," Professor McGonagall said just as the bell rang.

"Potters, a word if you two please," Professor McGonagall called them to her. She waited until the rest of the class was out.

"Potter, the champions and their partners --" McGonagall started but Harry cut her off. "What Partners?" Harry asked confused.

"Your partner for the Yule Ball, Potter. Your dance Partner," Professor McGonagall said to Harry. "Dance Partners? I don't dance," Harry said to Professor McGonagall.

"Oh, yes you do. That's what I'm telling you. Traditionally, the champions and their partners open the ball," Professor McGonagall said to Harry.

"I'm not dancing," Harry said to McGonagall who glared at him. "It is traditional. You are a Hogwarts champion, and you will do what is expected of you as a representative of the school. So make sure you get yourself a partner, Potter," Professor McGonagall said firmly to Harry.

Harry tried to argue but McGonagall shot him a look. Rose hid her smile as she watched Harry walk away. "Now Miss Potter, Professor Dumbledore asked me to inform you that Nymphadora Tonks has agreed to help you control your metamorphmagus abilities.  There isn't a place decided upon yet, but we will let you know by the end of the year," Professor McGonagall said.

"Thank you, Professor," Rose smiled as she walked out of the room.

The end of the term grew nearer and Rose wasn't asked by anyone to the dance yet. Harry and Ron were also without dates, so far Hermione has a date but she won't tell Rose who it is.

Classes ended and later that night, Rose, Hermione, Ron and Harry sat in the Gryffindor common room. Ron was building a card castle out of his Exploding Snap pack, Hermione was busy with Potions, Harry was rereading Flying with the Cannons and Rose was still reading her muggle book.

Hermione was scolding Harry for not figuring the golden egg out yet, but Rose ignored them as she read her book.

Fred and George sat down at the table with Harry, right after Ron's cards exploded. They asked Ron if they could borrow his owl, but Ron wants to know to where they were sending the letter. They just told him not to be so nosy.

"So, you lot got dates for the ball yet?" Fred asked them. "Nope," Ron replied. 'Well you better hurry, mate, or all the good ones will be gone," Fred said to Ron.

"Who are you going with then?" Ron asked Fred and George. "Angelina," Fred said, his voice held no trace of embarrassment, not that it should, Angelina is a beautiful girl and she is a good Quidditch player.

"What? You've already asked her?" Ron asked taken back. "Good point," Fred said turning around and Saw Angelina with Alicia Spinnet near the fire, "Oi! Angelina!" He called across the room.

"What?" Angelina called back looking at Fred. "Want to came to the ball with me?" Fred asked her and Angelina gave Fred an appraising sort of look. "All right then," Angelina said and turned back to her friend, Rose could see a slight grin on Angelina's face.

"There you go, a piece of cake," Fred said to Harry and Ron. "I'll be in the library if you need me," Rose said to the other three right after Fred and George left.

Rose found a table in the library and sat down. She continued reading when a chair opposite her was pulled out and someone sat down. Rose glanced up and she met with a pair of shocking blue eyes.

"Hi," Rose said smiling slightly. It was a boy from Durmstrang. "Hi, I'm Alex," He smiled and Rose. Rose smiled back, she looked at him closely and saw a scar on his right cheek. "I'm Rose," Rose said to him.

"I know we just met, but I was wondering if you would like to attend the Yule Ball with me?" Alex asked and Rose smiled. "I would love to," Rose said smiling at him.

"Well then it is settled, we should get to know each other," He smiled at Rose, who nodded in agreement. "I would love that," Rose said and Alex stood up, gave her a kiss on the hand before he left.

Rose stayed in the library for an hour before she made her way back to the Gryffindor common room. SHe entered and saw Ron and Harry still sitting by the table, but no Hermione in sight.

+Next day+

The day played out like all the other days. Rose went to class, lunch, class again and library after class, dinner and now she was in the common room. She was sitting on the couch next to Harry. Suddenly Ginny walked in with Ron. His face was as pale as a ghost.

"What's up with you?" Harry asked Ron, both him and Rose standing up. "He asked Fleur out in the courtyard," Ginny said to Harry and Rose. Ron explained how he likes how they walked and he couldn't help himself, he asked her.  Ginny told them that Ron sort of screamed at FLeur before he panicked and ran away.

The Patil twins walked passed them, greeting Harry. Rose watched as a plan formed in Harry's head. He suddenly ran after them. He later came back and told Ron that they have dates.

"Who are you going with?" Harry suddenly asked Rose, who looked at him. "Someone," Rose answered, Harry looked at her and slowly started to make his way to her, Rose gave a nervous laugh as she ran up to the girl dorms.
