Monse's POV:
I'm eating dinner with my dad in silence. It's been awkward between us since we talked to the Prophets. "It's happening tonight. I hope you didn't mess this up for us. If anything happens tonight that wasn't supposed to-" I cut him off because he's said this a hundred times. "You're going to make me leave Freeridge and never speak to anyone from here, including you, ever again." I say. "If I was you, it'd be packing my bags." My dad says. "Wow, at least I found a real solution you just told them not to kill anyone." "Because that's what works! Do you not understand I've been doing this for twenty years!" He screams. "I know the truth, you left them when mom left instead of holding up your end of the deal. You only helped when things got really bad but the rest of the time they were dealing with each other without you. Why do we even need to do this?" I scream. "Because when I was eighteen Cesar's dad was my best friend and I promised I'd help him out and then when everything went to shit I decided to try and fix it. My dad was a prophet and that's the only reason they trust me." He admits. That was the angriest I've ever seen him. We used to be so close but that ended when we moved here. "You could've told me that in the first place. This whole time I thought, everyone thought, Cesar's dad paid you to do this." I'm shocked. "I went along with the story we came up with when we were teenagers. Everything else I told you is true." We hear a car door slam and that's when we see Cesar walking towards his front door and Oscar's red impala speed away. "Oh my God, I have to tell him to go." I get up but my dad grabs my wrist. "I'm not letting you go out there and get hurt." I pull my arm away from him and I run across the street. "Hey." He says with a smile. "You have to go now, go to Ruby's or Jamal's literally anywhere but here." I say quickly. "What's wrong Monse?" He asks. "Just trust me you need to leave now!" I plead. "You have to come with me then because if it's that dangerous I'm not leaving you here." He says. "I can't but you need to go." I look to my right and I see three green cars driving down our dimly lit street. "Go to Jamal's it's closer you need to leave!" He looks at me and then back at the cars and he runs to the left. I cross the road and get back into my house. "That was so stupid." My dad yells as he closes the blinds. "Turn of all the lights and stay in your room." He walks outside and I lock the door behind him.

*the next morning.*
Cesar's POV:
I wake up on Jamal's couch and everyone's still sleeping. I have no idea why Monse was freaking out last night. As soon as I check my phone I see fifteen texts from Oscar and Monse. I scan a couple of them and then I see this one.

Oscar: get to the house NOW

I grab my shoes and I run home it was completely covered in spray paint by the prophets. Oscar's outside waiting for me and he looks pissed. "Did Monse know about this?" He asks. "She would've told us, I doubt she knew anything." I lie. "I'm gonna go get some paint this shit can't stay here. I'll be back soon you better not keep standing out here." I nod at Oscar and he drives away as fast as he can. Once he's out of sight I run across the street and knock on Monse's window as hard as I can. She looks through her blinds and I can tell I scared her. "What are you doing here?!" She asks. "Did you know they were going to tag my house?" I ask bluntly. "What are you talking about?" She knows and I can tell. "The Prophets tagged my house. You knew, if you didn't then why would you've told me to leave last night?" She doesn't respond. "How could you do this to me? That's my home we weren't even there to protect it! Now they know where we live, where I live. You have no idea how bad you screwed me over. If Oscar finds out... good luck." I walk away before she can respond. "Cesar wait please!" She follows me outside and sees what they did. "This is on you Monse." I walk away and go into my house. I can't believe she did this to me. I trusted her more than I've ever trusted anyone before and she does this. I get that she's just doing what she's supposed to do but she's my girlfriend she should've told me. As soon as we finish painting I go straight to Ruby's and tell him, Jamal and Olivia everything. "How could she do that to you? Did you guys break up?" Olivia asks as she puts her hand on my shoulder. "I don't know, I think so." I say. "I'm sure she wasn't trying to do anything wrong I mean she did tell you to leave before they got there." Jamal says. "Yeah but if she really cares about you she would've said something." Olivia says quickly. "Monse's a good person maybe she didn't even know it would be that bad." Ruby says. "I don't know you said she was really worried." Olivia's the only one who's being negative maybe Monse was right about her. "I just need some space, maybe we should break up." I say. They all look at me wide eyed I turn around and I see Monse at the door.  "What are you doing here?" Olivia asks. "I wanted to talk to my boyfriend but I guess I don't have one anymore." Monse walks away. "Monse wait!" I start to walk after her but Olivia grabs my wrist. "You shouldn't be the one chasing after her, she's the one who ruined your relationship." I pull my arm away from Olivia but when I get outside she's gone.
