Monse's POV:
I wake up and it hits me. We definitely shouldn't have done that. "We can't get back together yet." I tell Cesar the second he opens his eyes. "I didn't think we were." He smiles. "We still have to work things out." I clarify. "I know." He kisses me quickly and then he stands up and gets dressed. "I should probably go the couch before your dad wakes up." He smiles. "I love you." I tell him before he opens the door. "I love you too." He says. "I love you too Monse." I hear my dad say through the door. "Hey Monty." Cesar says with the door cracked open while I scramble over to my pile of clothes on the floor. "Tell Monse when she's done getting dressed I made eggs." He says in a serious tone. "Yeah, no problem." Cesar laughs awkwardly. "Eggs sounds great thanks dad." I push Cesar out of the way as I tie my hair into a messy bun. "You guys planning on going to school?" My dad asks. "Teacher planning day." I tell my dad. "Yeah and I don't think I'm going back." Cesar says sadly. "What do you mean?" I ask with a mouth full of eggs. "It's too dangerous for me to be out there especially since Latrelle's still in the hospital." He pours himself a cup of coffee and doesn't look at me when he talks. "You have to go back eventually you can't just never go back." I point out. "Actually he can if he wants to live." My dad says. "But dad-" "He's right. If I go to school I'll be vulnerable and that's not even the worst part. If the Prophets show up looking for me other people are going to get hurt." He explains. "What are you going to do?" I ask. "I can't drop out yet but it's my only option." He shrugs. He walks away and I turn to my dad. "He can't give away his whole life for this." I tell him. "He would be giving away his whole life if he went to school and got himself and other people killed. He's doing the right thing so drop it." My dad says. "I can't just drop it. He has plans for his future none of that is going to happen if he stops going to school." I explain. "Finnie I know you're just trying to help but you need to stop. There isn't any quick fix for this." He whispers. "No I'm gonna find a way to help him. He needs us, I can't just abandon him." I say. "If you can find a way for him to go to school without getting killed go for it but right now what he needs isn't an education." My dad hisses. "If he wants to leave Freeridge one day he's going to need an education. Cesar's a smart guy he shouldn't be stuck here because of a choice he didn't even make for himself." I whisper.

Cesar's POV:
I hear them talking about me but I decide not to say anything. Monse sounds determined to get me back to school but I don't think that's gonna happen. No amount of determination is going to stop the Prophets. It feels like everyone's watching me right now. The Santos are just waiting for me to fuck up and the Prophets won't leave me alone until I'm dead. That's when I get an idea. What if I go talk to Latrelle in the hospital and explain everything? If he doesn't forgive me the Prophets are probably gonna be waiting for me outside of his room but I have to try everything I can't keep living like this. "Hey, I gotta go take care of something I'll be back in two hours." I tell Monse and Monty. "Are you sure that's a good idea?" She asks. "Yeah, I'll be fine." I tell her. I sneak out of her house and run to Ruby's before anyone can see me. "Hey Ruby, I really need to talk to Olivia." I say when he opens the door. "Sorry, she's still mad." He shrugs. "Can we please just talk about this inside?" I beg. He's thinking about it for too long so I push him inside and shut the door. "What's he doing here?" Olivia asks. "I want to go see Latrelle." I say and Olivia starts walking out of the the room. "I need to explain everything." I say as I follow her. "Explain what? That you're the reason he's spent over a month in and out of the hospital?" She asks. "I'm sorry Olivia but if I didn't do this he would've been killed." I explain and she stops walking. "I didn't want to hurt him ask Mari." I tell her and she turns, stares me dead in the eyes and just looks at me for a solid thirty seconds. "Let's go." She says. "If you really want to apologize then let's go. I'll drive." She says with a straight face. We get in Ruby's mom's car and she speeds towards the hospital. "I'm really-" I say and she shakes her head. "Don't. If Latrelle forgives you then I will too but right now I don't care what you have to say." She says bluntly. I shut my mouth for the rest of the ride and when we pull up to the hospital she drags me to the nurses' station. "Hey ms. June, I'm here to see Latrelle again." She smiles at a nurse. "Go right ahead sweet heart." The nurse says. Olivia turns the corner and her smile turns back to a pissed off face. "Just remember you did this to him." She hisses. She opens the door slowly and he sits straight up. "It's just me. Is it ok if Cesar comes in?" She whispers. He nods and I walk in slowly. "Hey." I see him and I realize he got jumped again. "What happened?" I ask. "After I got out some Santos showed up at my house." Is all he says. "Was it my brother?" I ask. "No, he's the one who stopped them." He mumbles. He looks worse than when I jumped him. "I'm so sorry, I didn't want any of this to happen." I tell him and he shrugs. "I should've killed you when I had the chance but I didn't. I can't be mad at you, this is on me." He says.
