Cesar's POV:
"It's Christmas Eve Cesar if you don't get up and help then you don't eat." Ruby says. "It's been four days since I got kidnapped maybe I just wanna relax." I sigh. "Babe he's right." Monse says as she leans down to kiss me. "We got shot a few weeks ago and you don't see us lying around." She laughs. I pull her down onto the couch so she's on top of me. "As much as I love Christmas I'd rather not burn the house down." I tell her. "You don't have to cook just get up. This is like the only time we all get to be together." Monse says. She stands up and goes back into the kitchen. "It's Monse's first Christmas without her family, make it a good one." Geny says. Those were her only words to me in a while so of course I listen. "So I can't cook but I can wash dishes, I got baby." I say as I walk to the sink. Monse's wasting a mountain of dishes but she's still smiling. "You can dry them." She throws a towel at me. "Merry Christmas Monse." I laugh. "It took you long enough!" She says. "I was never big on the whole Christmas thing but now I got all this." I look at Oscar talking to Ruby's dad and everyone's smiling like nothing bad ever happened. "Well from now on I promise you're gonna love Christmas." Monse smiles. "Yeah, especially when I see your face after I give you your present." She stops washing the dishes and looks me in the eye. "I told you not to get me anything Cesar." She sounds so serious. "Trust me, you're gonna want this." I kiss her and go back to drying the dishes. "Hey Cesar come here for a second!" Oscar yells from the living room. "I'll be right back." I kiss her and I go see what's so important. "Tell me you remember that Christmas Ruby punched the mall Santa in the face." Eric, Ruby's dad, says. "Yeah, that was the first and last time he was violent." I laugh. "How do I not remember this?" Oscar says. "That was your first Christmas in jail." I remind him and it gets quite. "Right, sorry I could've sworn you were there." Eric says. "Nah, don't stress. I can barely keep track of my time in jail, how can you?" Oscar laughs. I walk back into the kitchen and pretend like I didn't just rub the fact that he's been to jail in his face. "What'd he need?" Monse sounds worried. "He wanted to know if I remembered when Ruby punched Santa." I try to laugh. "Seriously? Man I wish I could've seen that." She says. We finish the last few dishes and it feels like it took forever. "So now what?" I ask. "Now we get out of the way so they can finish cooking." She says. "I haven't seen Ruby or Olivia in a minute." Jamal says as he stirs the pot of frijoles. Of course he's helping Abuelita cook. "Yeah, I think I saw them go into her room... like thirty minutes ago." Monse says. "I could've gone the rest of my life without knowing that." I sigh.
Monse's POV:
Olivia and Ruby walk out of her room and they're both smiling. "I think I'm gonna throw up." Jamal says. "Ruby just gave me the best present ever!" Olivia swoons. "Ew no! I don't want to hear it!" I cover my ears. "What? He got in contact with my parents, I was just talking to them." Olivia says. "Thank you Lord!" Jamal cheers. Ruby and Olivia look confused. "We wouldn't do that with everyone at the house!" Olivia screams. "What?" Ruby asks and Olivia whispers an explanation. "You guys are all disgusting." Ruby tries to sound serious but it actually sounds hilarious. "Guys, dinners ready!" Geny says. "Finally, I'm starving." Ruby sighs. "Yeah, you probably worked up an appetite." I laugh. We sit at the table and Abuelita finishes saying grace. "This is definitely my favorite Christmas." Everyone is here other than my dad and I'm not even upset. Someone knocks on the door and I stand up. "I got it." I say. I open the door with a smile spread across my face until I see who it is. "What are you doing here?" I can feel my heart beating out of my chest. "Monse, who is it?" Cesar asks. I want to answer him but my mouth doesn't move. "What, you're not gonna let me in?" He asks. "Cesar!" I yell. "What's wrong?" He looks at the guy standing in front of us and I can tell he's pissed. "You said you were getting out of here." Cesar tells Latrelle. "Yeah but I found some stuff out and I thought I should stay for a little bit." He says. Olivia walks to the door and she looks nervous. What the hell is going on? "You need to leave!" Olivia hisses. "Why are you here?!" I need an answer. The reason I got shot is standing on the porch of the house that I got shot at. "Oscar's here, if he sees you he'll kill you." Cesar says. Latrelle doesn't say anything he just keeps staring at Olivia. "You didn't tell them?" He asks her. "Didn't tell us what?" I turn to Olivia. "Please just leave." She begs. "What does he know that we don't?" Cesar asks. Every good day has to be ruined by this ass hole. Why am I just standing here? Why hasn't he shot us or done anything? What is Olivia not telling us? "Why are you guys taking so long?" Ruby pushes past us sees Latrelle. "What is he doing here?" His voice cracks. "He won't tell us." Cesar pushes me behind him. "So she didn't tell any of you?" He laughs. "Just go away!" I plead. "What, I can't see my baby mama on Christmas?" Latrelle asks.
