Cesar's POV:
I knock on the door and Sadeyes opens the door. After Oscar went to the hospital the Santos have been at a different house. "He's dead." I say with a straight face. "So what now?" One of the guys asks. "You don't have to do this kid." Sadeyes says. "It's part of the deal." I nod.
Monse's POV:
"What do you think happened?" I ask the group. "All I know is one of them is definitely leaving right now." Paula says. "How'd it go returning to the crime scene?" Jamal asks. "Oh I got caught, she was not happy." I shrug. "You can't just end a story like that!" Ruby yells. "I'm not really in the mood for this." I shrug. "Come on, we can't help the... situation right now." Paula says. "Situation? Are you kidding me? My boyfriend might be on his way out of Freeridge and you're just going to call it a situation. I didn't forget my phone charger Paula." I freak out. "I didn't mean it like that." She says. "Jesus Paula! Why are you still here?" I ask "Monse-" she says. "No! I know you helped and thank you for that but I punched a seventy year old women in the parking lot of a hospital and ran away because you stole a car." I tell her. "I know, I'm the worst but can you please just-" I cut her off for the second time in a row. "For all I know he could be dead right now!" I point out. "Who are we talking about?" I hear Cesar say. I turn around with a smile but it fades quickly when I see his face. "Did Oscar do this to you?" I jump up and put my hand on his cheek. "I'm fine, can we just talk alone?" He asks. "Yeah." I nod with a worried look on my face. We go into my room and we sit on my bed. "This reminds me of the first time you broke into my house." I smile. "I love you." He says. "I love you too but what happened to your face? And your arm?! I do not think bone should bend like that." I say with a head tilt. "Yeah I should probably get it checked out... that's not the point. I need to tell you something but you can't get mad." He says. "Babe, you're still here and a few hours ago I thought I'd never see you again I'm not gonna get mad." I smile.
Jamal's POV:
"You did what?!" We here Monse scream from the other room. "I think we should go." Ruby says. "Yeah, like right now." Paula says. "Sit down!" Monse screams. "Babe it's not a big deal." Cesar says. Monse spins around quicker than I've ever seen someone turn before. "Tell them." Monse says with crazy eyes. "I took over." He shrugs. "I feel like you're missing a few details." I tell him. "The Santos." Ruby says as he shakes his head. "Well how was I supposed to know? I don't just see someone beat up and assume they became a gang leader... wait." I look back at Cesar and gasp. "You're a gang leader! What were you thinking?!" I scream. "It's complicated." He shakes his head. "Of course it's complicated you are not only in a gang, you are a teenager who is in charge of a gang!" I point out. "That's what I said!" Monse exclaim. I reach my arm up and we high five. "Really weird thing to high five about." Ruby says. "This really feels like a you guys thing." Paula says as she gets up slowly and awkwardly. "I honestly forgot you were here." I tell her. "So I can go?" She asks. "Yeah, honestly I thought you would've left already." Monse says. "Talk to guy later?" She asks. "Don't push it." Ruby says. "Ok, cool... good luck with the gang." Paula says. She leaves the house kind of awkwardly. "What is happening?" Ruby shakes his head. "We aren't friends with her, right?" Monse asks. "Can we please just finish this conversation?" Cesar asks. "Ok, explain why you had to become a gang leader?" Monse says and we all tilt our heads. "I promised Oscar that if he died 'cause of what I did then I had to take over." Cesar says. "He's not dead!" I remind him. "The Santos think he is. Oscar found a way to tell them before he even got in the ambulance." Cesar says. "How the fuck?" Monse furrows her brow. "Don't ask me but they knew. Sadeyes said I didn't have to do it but I knew what would happen if I didn't." He says. "What could be worse than this? I'm pretty sure your arm is broken." Ruby says. "Death." Monse answers for Cesar. "I didn't think of your other options... option." Monse says. "They all know I have no idea what I'm doing." Cesar sounds worried. "I never got my phone back from Oscar!" I remember. Look at me and then back at Cesar. "How hard can it be?" Monse asks.
Monse's POV:
"How hard can it be? Are you kids stupid?" My dad asks. "You're gonna be the reason that people live and die. You're gonna be the reason kids join gangs and that feeling you had when you became a Santo is the same feeling you're gonna give other kids that same feeling and you will wish you were dead." He says. "Jesus dad!" I yell. "I'm kidding... not about the you hating it part. I'm lying I don't know how to make this better." He laughs. "It'll be fine." I put my hand on his shoulder. "Yeah, that hurts... a lot." He cringes. "It won't be fine!" My dad yells from the other room. "He just wants to scare you." I whisper. "We'll figure this out." I kiss him but he pulls back. "I should really go see a doctor." He says.
