Smosh had been saved. Rhett and Link were, without exaggeration, our saviours. Without them I'd be out of a job, as would my boyfriend and literally all my best friends. Without them Shayne and I wouldn't have a second home, a place to chill out and make stupid videos to post on the internet. Without them Shayne and I wouldn't have an income...
Two weeks had passed since Rhett and Link's purchase of Smosh had been finalised, and we were a brand new company. Every employee was revitalised and full of determination and motivation, and we were churning out videos faster than I could believe. Furthermore, the videos were actually our own ideas, ones that we had wanted to make for so long.
Shayne and I had started our own show about dating and whatnot. In our minds it was the first step in creating our own YouTube channel for the future, when we wouldn't be a part of a Smosh, but for now, that was our little secret. It was fun to film with Shayne. In fact, it was my favourite part of the working day.
Christmas was fast approaching, as we entered the first week of December after what felt like an eternity. Shayne and I would be travelling to my parent's house on the day before Christmas Eve, or Christmas Eve-Eve, as we called it. I couldn't wait to give him my present. He was going to love it.
The weather changed rapidly, as temperatures plummeted and snow started to fall. I awoke slowly one day and peered out of the window to see white sheets covering the ground outside. Snow always put a smile on my face, and it never failed to remind me of what my sister, Kari, and I used to do to Shayne back in high school:
"Court? How long until 'Shayney' gets here?" Kari asked excitedly.
I slapped her arm and laughed, "Stop! Shayne says it's cute when I call him Shayney."
Kari grinned, "Yeah? Well, I think it's lame."
I scoffed jokingly, "Shut up!"
We laughed together, before Kari said, "So anyways? How long?"
"15 minutes," I replied.
"Ok, the buckets are in place," Kari said with a smirk.
I high-fived her, "Excellent work. And the water pistols?"
"Loaded. Propped up by the front door."
"Perfect, let's get him..."
Kari and I crouched beneath the window of our front door, anticipating a knock. Shayne would be here any second, and as soon as we opened the door, it would pull the string attached to the bucket on top of the roof, filled with so much snow. After he was covered, we'd spray him with water pistols. I couldn't wait! We did this every year to him, but he never became any wiser!
Finally, three swift knocks could be heard on the surface of the door, and Kari and I shared a quick smile, before opening said door. Snow poured down in front of us, however, what was there surprised us. No-one was there. Shayne was no-where to be seen. The pile of snow in front of the two of us suddenly looked very disappointing, we'd missed Shayne, and speaking of whom...
Suddenly, from around the corner, Shayne appeared, carrying a huge water pistol. He sprayed Kari and I, drenching us from head to toe, before running further out into our front lawn, so we couldn't shoot him back.
"You're so dead, Shayne!" Kari screamed.
Shayne grinned, "You really think I'd fall for that 'snow on the roof' trick three years in a row? Come and get me, girls."
Kari and I charged him, and we sprayed him with our guns, however, he didn't seem to care, and he wrapped his arms around my waist and fell down into the snow, holding me tightly. I cried with laughter as we crashed down together, plummeting into the thick white blanket. Kari's laughs were audible in the background, but Shayne and I continued wrestling. Eventually, I ended up on top, and I grabbed a fistful of snow, before smacking it in Shayne's face. He coughed and spluttered dramatically, only adding to my laughter, and Kari began throwing snowballs at him. He jumped to his feet and ducked behind our trash can on the sidewalk, so we couldn't hit him.
"Truce!" Shayne yelled.
Kari and I grinned, and shouted simultaneously, "Never!"
Shayne quickly vaulted over the trash can and charged at the two of us again, throwing a torrent of snowballs as he did so. Kari and I were pummelled as Shayne relentlessly covered us in snow, and we laughed all at the same time, until eventually the three of us flopped down to the ground. Shayne clutched my hand and pulled me in to hug him on the cold surface.
"Why can't we say hello to each other normally?" he panted breathlessly.
I grinned and only buried my face further into his neck, kissing his cold skin, "Because we're not a normal couple."
Shayne smiled up at the sky, "No, we're not at all."
Kari then stood up and brushed her clothes off, removing any excess snow, "I'm going inside now, you kids have fun, and don't stay out here too long or you'll get frostbite."
I rolled my eyes, "Thanks 'mom.'"
Kari chuckled, "You're very welcome dear."
And with that she walked off, leaving Shayne and I alone in the snow.
A huge grin was plastered across my face as I remembered those days, just months before Shayne left for New York. That wasn't important now though, because we were together again.
"You okay, baby?" Shayne asked me.
He appeared in our bedroom with nothing but a towel around his waist. His luscious blonde hair was damp and frizzy, but I liked the 'messy look.' Furthermore, that Greek God-like body of his, along with his chiselled abs and sculpted face, were enough to drive any girl insane. Shayne was too hot.
"Hmmaa," I replied brilliantly.
Shayne grinned and laid next to me on our bed, before stroking my hair behind my ear for me, "Hmmaa to you too, babe," he said with a wink.
I blushed and kissed him, "You already showered? Without me?"
Shayne smiled, "Sorry, you looked so peaceful. I didn't wanna wake you."
"Well, I'm awake now, so come on," I said curtly.
Shayne smirked inquisitively, "Come on what?"
"Shower."
"You want me to go again?" he asked.
"I want you in there with me," I said whilst biting my lip and playing with Shayne's wet hair.
Shayne blushed and chuckled, "I see. Let's go."
