#83 - At Long Last

"What is this all about?" I quizzed again, pulling away from Shayne's grip.

He smiled and shook his head, before continuing to guide me to the Squad Room in absolute silence. Jessica was being escorted by Courtney, and I assumed the rest of the cast were already there.

My suspicions were confirmed as I arrived amongst a crowd of confused Smosh members, already asking the married couple what this was all about. As they reached the front to announce themselves, I felt a small hand grasp mine, and I smirked without having to look down, knowing it was Jessica. She was extremely claustrophobic, and so this couldn't have been easy for her. Nevertheless, we listened to Shayne and Courtney.

"Now, the reason we have all brought you here is..." Shayne began dramatically.

Courtney couldn't stop giggling and she whispered something in Shayne's ear, causing him to blush and laugh, before holding her hand.

Then, in perfect harmony, they screamed together, "We're pregnant!"

The uproar that I expected to be imminent was instead immediate, and the couple was surrounded in enveloping hugs and wishes of good fortune and health. Shayne started crying as always, and Courtney followed suit, embracing her husband among the exuberant chaos. Everyone was so incredibly happy for them. They were going to be parents. My boy was all grown up.

"When did you find out?" Olivia asked, wiping tears from her face.

"A couple of days ago," responded Courtney, hugging Shayne.

"That's so great you guys! I'm so happy for you two!" I exclaimed enthusiastically.

Everyone voiced their agreements, and the happy couple didn't break from their embrace. I genuinely was so indescribably pleased for both of them. They deserved this. When I first met Shayne back in New York, in what felt like a lifetime ago, he never stopped talking about his 'mystery girl from California,' as I branded her. Every single day he'd mention his ex-girlfriend, never specifying her name, probably due to his broken heart. When he did finally open up, I knew they'd end up together again. The way Shayne spoke of Courtney and allowed his face to become raw with emotion reflected his undying love for her. They truly were meant to be.

And at long last, they were going to be a proper family. My best friend's journey had been arduous for sure, but I knew he was the best version of himself when he was with Courtney, making me all the more exuberant about the entire situation. Hell, I was practically going to be an uncle. I couldn't wait. None of us could.
