*Shayne*

Whilst preparations for the wedding were well underway, Courtney and I still had a lot to do, both individually and collectively. Together we decided that the first job should be choosing my best man and her maid of honour.

Personally, it was always going to be an easy choice for me. Ian had been there for me through thick and thin, giving me my dream job and granting me the opportunity to reunite with the love of my life after my unbelievable stupidity. Noah never failed to make me laugh, and he always kept me grounded, whilst simultaneously bettering my acting abilities. Keith always provided the chance to vent to him, and he advised me on everyday stuff such as what to wear. I can't count how many times he calmed me down about general stupid shit. But of course, even though I had so many great friends, I had to ask Damien.

He was my only friend from my time in the New York, and the only good thing that came from my three year stay for 'So Random.' Damien even let me live with him after the first month of shooting, and for literally hundreds of nights on end, he'd allow me to express my deepest thoughts, and he'd just listen. He was the one who convinced me Courtney still loved me back in New York, even though he had never met her, and when Courtney and I had our fight concerning Jessica, he was the one who bought me back to my senses. It had to be him.

I had asked if I could hang out at his place one night, and he accepted, offering to watch some movies and play video games. Doing childish stuff with my best friend never got old. Jessica and Courtney knew about what I planned to do, and so the two of them hung out at my house, giving us some space.

I arrived more nervous than I expected to be, but it was all vanquished when Damien opened the door to my old apartment and greeted me with that familiar kind smile.

"Hey man, come in," he said casually.

I grinned and nodded, not saying a word. He guided me over to the couch and began sifting through various PlayStation games.

"GTA, Fallout, Battlefield, what do you wanna play man?"

I cleared my throat and he eyed me up tentatively, "Damien I didn't come over here to play video games."

His face became etched with mild confusion, and a clumsy grin spread across his lips, "Okay, wanna watch a movie then?"

"I came here to ask you something."

He noticed the serious tone of my voice and he sat down beside me, "Ask away."

I readied myself once more, "Damien, you've never failed to be there for me, you know? Whenever I need you, you're there. You basically saved my career and entire life back in New York, as well as here after the entire 'cheating debacle,' and for that I'll forever be in your debt."

He smiled warmly, encouraging me to go on.

"What I'm trying to say is thank you for being such a good friend for all these years. As I said, I'll never be able to repay you, but as a gesture of my gratitude..."

Damien's eyes widened with anticipation.

"Would you be my best man?" I finished.

Genuine shock washed over his face, and he immediately pulled me in for a bear hug, almost crushing my ribs, "Yes! Yes! Of course I'll be your best man! Thank you, Shayne!"

I laughed, struggling for breath, and when he pulled away I noticed he was crying, causing me to chuckle again, "Come on man, it's okay. No need to be a little bitch about it."

He grinned, "Shut up, these are manly tears!"

I smirked again and patted his shoulder, "Thank you Damien, for everything."

He wiped away the small droplets sliding down his cheeks with the back of his hand, before saying, "Shayne, I'll always be here for you. Anytime."
