*Courtney*

Everyone stood outside the house with me as we observed the candlelit path, and I was enveloped in a group hug.

"We love you, Courtney," they said in unison.

"I love you all, too," I replied, sobbing.

"Go in," Olivia egged me on, refraining her excitement.

I laughed and opened the door, walking through the threshold, and I closed it behind me. What I saw took my breath away. Hundreds of tiny candles illuminated the area, accompanied by rose petals scattered everywhere. Stuck to the wall were yet more notes, and they led up the stairs. I suppressed tears as I read each and every one, ascending the staircase at the same time.

Courtney Miller,
My Genius Girl,
In high school we met,
On you my eyes were instantly set,
When I'm with you, my heart beats faster,
Leaving you was a complete disaster,
Now, walk into the best bedroom ever,
Find me on the bed we built together,
There is something extraordinary for you to see,
Courtney Miller...

I walked into our bedroom to find Shayne stood before me, surrounded by yet more candles and rose petals. 'A Thousand Years' by Cristina Perri played in the background, making me grin, and the lights had been dimmed, emphasising the candlelight, accentuating Shayne's beauty.

"Shayne, what is all of this?" I asked with a shaky voice.

He remained silent, before striding over to me and taking my hand. We kissed gently, softly and tenderly. As Shayne pulled away he took a deep breath, and I held back more tears. Then, the best part came...

Shayne got down on one knee, not taking his eyes off of mine for a second, and tears streamed down my face as I threw my hands over my mouth. My wonderful boyfriend proceeded to extract a small, black velvet box from his pocket, and he popped the lid open. I was presented with the most mesmerising and beautiful ring I had ever seen in my entire life, and the diamond on top somehow flickered with an emerald hue.

Shayne was sobbing, as was I, and I could barely stay standing.

He then asked, as quiet as ever, and stuttering through the sentence, "Courtney Ruth Miller. Would you... Would you do me the extraordinary honour... of marrying me?"

I laughed tearily, already reimagining Shayne's proposal and wanting to do it all again.

"Hell yeah," I chuckled slightly, still sobbing.

Shayne cried with happiness and delicately slipped the ring onto my finger. We wept together, before I knelt opposite him and embraced him tighter than ever, wanting nothing more than to simply be with him. His addictive, infectious nature corrupted me in an all-encompassing atmosphere of love, and I had never desired to escape it. Instead, I wanted to plunge deeper into the pool of pure passion that represented Shayne's love for me. I wanted to prove to him that I could be the best wife in the entire world, but I already knew he was going to be the perfect embodiment of a husband.

"I love you so much, Shayne," I cried with tears still soaking my face.

"I love you too, Courtney Miller," Shayne exclaimed.

I pressed my lips against his and ran my fingers through his hair, and all I could see, smell, hear, feel and taste was Shayne. We then parted, not separating our foreheads, and we simply smiled and allowed each other's tears to slide down our faces. The warmth of his muscular frame radiated onto me, and a million fireworks seemed to erupt within my body, exploding infrequently yet consistently all at the same time.

"I'm gonna be Courtney Topp," I whispered.

Shayne then kissed me again, and the ring on my finger felt more comfortable, more right, than anything. It was as if it was always meant to be there, and I couldn't imagine my life without it now. Shayne was my everything...
